It would be over a week until my next start, a 9-0 loss to San Jose. The less said about that game the better.
There were just two more weeks left in the season.
My line was just awful:
19 starts. A 2-16 record. 7.16 ERA. 84 walks. 36 strikeouts.
I was ready for the season to be over.
Ready to go home.
But also ready to get another chance.
It wasn't so much that I was ready for this season to end as much as I was ready for the next season to begin.
I had a lot to prove.
This first year, I needed to take it and learn from it and move on to the next season.
There were a few things I was ready for after the season was over.
Taking Beth to homecoming was at the top of the list.
Seeing Mom and Dad was there as well.
But the thing that I was always thinking about was the 1986 season and how much different things would be then.
Beat me up all you can in 1985.
I am just going to be better for it!
