My next start came on September 29 in Stockton. There were just 8 games left in the season. I would probably get one more start before going home.

It pretty much looked like the California League Championship would come down to the San Jose Bees and the Bakersfield Dodgers.

I hate the Dodgers.

I had no intention of sticking around to watch the playoffs. I was going home and putting this miserable season behind me.

In the majors, the Dodgers and Expos had clinched again.

Man, I really hate the Dodgers!

The Red Sox had won the AL East.

The AL West was still a 4 team race, although the Royals were down to 1 in their elimination number. The Twins and Mariners were tied for first and the Athletics were 3 games back with 7 to play.

I got pounded again.

5.2 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

We lost 9-1.

In my last 5 starts, we had scored a grand total of 5 runs.

My last start of the season was even worse.

3.0 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

And we lost 9-2.

To Bakersfield.

To the blankety blank blank blank Dodgers!

My final line for 1985:
2-18, 7.38 ERA, 128.0 IP, 89 BB, 41 K

Our final record was 41-102.

51.5 games out of first.
