Ruthlandian Union League Championship Series - Game 3
DELGIORNO SPINS SHUTOUT, MACS LEAD SERIES 2-1
The Sundowner pitchers have been standing tall on the hill the last two games in the Ruthlandian title series... in game three at Sky High Stadium in Far Mountain, Dion Delgiorno (3-0/0.70) spun a 6-0 shutout, restricting the Redhawks to seven hits for his third postseason victory... the young lefty struck out seven hitters and walked three to send Wynnamac ahead in the best-of-seven series two games to one... the Macs were booming at the plate, too, banging out 16 hits on three Far Mountain hurlers... seven Sundowners popped two hits apiece, paced by 1B Enos Benham (.349/5 RBI) with two RBIs and a home run... RF Charley Bristol (.400/1 RBI) also had two hits and a solo homer.
Tycobbian Union League Championship Series - Game 3
RASCALS STOP MIDDIES 6-GAME WIN STREAK
Forget about Midway sweeping the White River Rascals... Cody Butler made certain of that... the right-hander put a stop to Midway's six-game postseason winning streak, corraling them 8-3 in the third game of the Tycobbian LCS... it was the Rascals first win in the series... Midway still has the upper hand two games to one... Butler (2-0/1.25) was tapped for eight hits in seven and two-third innings, but he departed with five-run advantage... southpaw reliever Glen Horton retired all four batters he faced, fanning two of them... C Wayne Carlton (.485/6 RBI) continued to prosper at the plate in the postseason for the Rascals with a homer, single and two RBIs... CF Pudge Tate (.244/3 RBI) also slammed a two-run roundtripper... the Wolves also walloped two out of the park, courtesy of RF Daryl Vale (.222/9 RBI) and 1B Ted Merritt (.308/8 RBI)... they each have three in the playoffs... losing pitcher Charlie Chase (0-1/7.71) lived up to this name... the Rascals chased him after four innings... they pounded him for six runs and seven hits.
