In a quick look on Wikipedia, there were several owners that are majority owners in other franchises. Tom Benson and Jerry Reinsdorf were the obvious ones, but there are others. Are you sure this is correct?
In either event, hopefully MJ will be content ruining one franchise in Charlotte.
