Notes:
The Phillies went 3-3 this week, losing 2 0f 3 to the San Diego and sthen taking 2 of 3 from LA. Pitching remains a problem as we gave up 44 runs in those 6 games. BRuce Ruffin who was on fire for almost 2 months, went ice cold, giving up 19 ER over 10 IP in his last 2 starts. That raised his ERA from 3.48 to 4.31.

Joe Cowley (12 ER in 21 IP) and Craig McMurtry (13 ER in 11 IP ), were terrible in August and no longer in my plans. If they clear waivers will spend the rest of the year in the minors. McLarnan struggled in his first big league experience (5.1 IP, 7 ER, 15 H, 4 BB) and will get another shot at some point. Britt Burns has been great this year with a 17 IP, 17 H, 1.06 ERA, 6 BB/6K and will get a chance to hold a middle relief spot for the rest of the season. Len Watts has been steady but unspectatular at 5-10, 5.67 ERA, 4.37 FIP, 109 K in 138 IP.

I signed Charlie Moore because even though he is a catcher, he can play CF and I needed a CF at AAA. Some of my AA outfields were getting healthy, so I released Wayne Cromartie who hit .135 in 55 PA at AA and .083 in 14 PA at AAA.

The Utica Blue Sox won the Eastern Division of the New York-Penn League at 52-28 and will meet the Batavia Trojans in a best of 7 championship series.
