In the bottom of the first, Burroughs brought one home with a double.

Stanley tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the third.

In the top of the seventh, the Twins scored one on a Thompson triple.

Burroughs led off the bottom of the seventh by drawing his 100th walk of the season. But the Rangers could do nothing with it.

In the top of the eighth, Oliva delivered a run-scoring single.

In the top of the ninth, Bobby Darwin hit a 2-run homer. Monzon then reached on an error with two out and Casey Cox replaced Hand on the mound for the Rangers. Garr singled to give the Twins 10 hits for the game. Braun then popped out to retire the side.

The Rangers were out hit 10-4.

Final score: Minnesota 5 Texas 1.
