The second game of the series in Minnesota. The Rangers win last night officially eliminated the Twins from the post season.

Another team that has officially been eliminated from the post season is the New York Yankees.

Stanley hit a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

In the top of the sixth, Goltz struck out Burroughs for his 100th K of the season.

In the bottom of the sixth, Soderholm hit a solo home run.

In the top of the eighth, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Harrah, however, flew out to center to retire the side.

The Rangers put runners at the corners with nobody out in the top of the ninth and the Twins went to the bullpen and brought out Dave LaRoche. One out later, Billings tied the game with a 2-RBI single.

Bosman walked the lead off batter in the bottom of the ninth and was replaced by Paul Lindblad. With the winning run on second and two out, Mitterwald flew out to left to send the game into extra innings.

After nine: Texas 2 Minnesota 2.

In the top of the tenth, Burroughs hit a solo home run.

Lindblad set them down in order in the bottom of the tenth.

Final score: Texas 3 Minnesota 2 10 innings.
