In the bottom of the first, Rudi singled to extend his hit streak to 14 games as the Athletics loaded the bases with nobody out. Jackson grounded back to the pitcher and Tolan was forced out at home. One away. Broberg then struck out Tenace. Two down. Then Epstein hit a 3-RBI double.

In the bottom of the fifth, Rudi beat out a double play grounder to pick up an RBI. Jackson followed with a 2-run homer to surpass 90 RBI for the season.
Nelson led off the top of the sixth with a home run. The Rangers then scored a run on a Burroughs double.
Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth. Tolan got an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Bando followed up with a 2-run homer.

Maddox singled in the top of the ninth for the Rangers 10th hit of the game. He would go on to score on a throwing error.
