Face Of The Team

Bill Sweeney - SP
Adding to a league that is very heavy on great ace pitchers, Bill Sweeney adds to this fact. Sweeney should give the team a rubber arm and could take the ball every third day if needed. He has all the tools, and is in his prime years. Manager George Stallings cant say enough good things about him.
Final Analysis
Detroit is among the smallest cities to have a club, and gathering real support can sometimes be task. The club does have som real talent, along with Sweeney, Don Matthingly is a true talent at first base and has the tough mental attitude all winners need. Juan Samuel is a good player and catcher Johnny Bassler may be among the most underrated players in the game. Most think this Tigers team has an outside chance to remain in the pennant race.
