Notes:
It was a tough strenth to end the month of May, the
Los Angeles Dodgers, took 2 of 3, outscoring us 10-3 in the lossses. We one a 2-1 game, where
Steve Cummings pitched 8 IP, give up 1 run on 8 hits, walked 1 and struck out 1. It was his fifth start since moving into the rotation and in all 5 he give up 2 runs or less in at least 6.2 IP. Then we took 2 of 3 from the
San Francisco Giants.
Ricky Jordan made his debut and went 1 for4 with a double and
Louie Meadows added 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a SB. We won a 7-6 game in 12 innings where
Darren Daulton had 5 hits, including 2 HRs and 4 RBIs. We were shut out in the finale. Then we ended May with 2 losses to the
San Diego Padres, 4-2 and 5-4. In, the 1st game,
Steve Cummings had his worst game, 4 ER in 8 IP, 3 of which were in the 8th inning.
Dave Gallagher went 3 for 4 with both RBis. IN the 2nd,
Mike Schmidt went yard,
Milt Thompson added an RBI triple, but it wasn't enough as
Tom Newell give up 4 ER in 6.2 IP.
Gary Varsho made his MLB debut this week, going 3-24.
After going 11-11 in April, we plummeted to 8-20 in May. THe offense ranks at or near the bottom in most categories while the Ptiching is all over the place. Hopefully, June and the draft bring better luck.
