Lefty Herring, 1899
Silas Herring appeared in two games as a pitcher with the National League Washington Senators in 1899, then played in 15 games as a first baseman and center fielder with the 1904 American League Washington Senators. This photo is from 1904, when Herring played for the Mount Pleasant Congregational Church team in Washington before joining the Senators in July. When the team obtained Frank Huelsman in a trade, Herring returned to the Sunday School League.
