About a week ago, I'd asked about
Roy Foster (Indians, Rangers, etc.) images in the
Help Finding Photos thread. Color preferred (non-card). No response as yet, but I was simultaneously doing what I could do, myself.
Roy had a brief 3 year major league career--all with Cleveland, but well-traveled in spite of that. He hit 23 home runs in his rookie season in 1970 (after hitting 24 for the Mets Tidewater affiliate the year before) and you just knew this guy was going to be a star. He was the Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year that year. But injuries happen and he dropped off quickly after that. He spent '74 and '75 in the Mexican Leagues and that was all she wrote--out of the game at age 29. And, oh yeah, he was with the Seattle Pilots in the spring of 1970, and not a lot of people can say they were once Seattle Pilots. Roy passed away in 2008 at the age of 62.
So, if anyone here is interested, here are a few B&W Fosters. The first (and best) is a 1970 press photo I bought (photo by Richard Conway for
The Cleveland Plain Dealer on April 6, 1970). The other two are from the 1971 Indians yearbook I bought (anybody wanna buy a 1971 Indians yearbook?).
