EARLY SEASON INTRIGUE
The opening month of the season saw record crowds come out and watch the national game and the first glimpse of the pennant race taking shape. The contenders from the pretenders in early spring are starting to take shape, but so much baseball yet to be played heading into the summer.
The White Sox lead the American League and have been pushed on by their outstanding pitching staff. The club has a combined ERA of 2.08 and Ed Klepfer is 4-0 with 18 strikeouts. The Sox were the first team to 10 wins but have the hot Detroit Tigers right behind them who have won 5 in a row.
Boog Powell of the Brooklyn Superbas has it all going lading the league with 15 RBI and 3 long balls. Brooklyn however are 8-10.
Injuries have played a big role in Cleveland as Clayton Kershaw missed four weeks through a shoulder injury and in turn the club has won only 2 games.
