5th August 2017
I am now only 2 days away from returning to the team. I have been allowed to take some practice swings today to try and get my rhythm back but they limited my work just to make sure there was no problems with the muscle. They will check again tomorrow to confirm no reaction and if I pass that I should be back the day after.
The guys are still down in Bossier City to face the Rhinos for a second game.
The manager went with the following line-up for the game
3B Angelo Mendoza
2B Casey McCauley
SS Steve Bielecki
DH Chris LaBuff
LF Copper Houghton
CF Chris Klika
RF Tanner Rice
Catcher Tomas Ayala
On the mound for us today was Matt Hood. Hood has a 1-2 record in the games he has pitched for us with a no decision last time out.
We started the game well with a run scored in the second inning by Chris LaBuff. He singled to get on base and was then bought home by a single from Copper Houghton, a sacrifice grounder by Severson and then a wild pitch to Tanner Rice.
Hood kept things tight on the mound and we then went further ahead in the 4th with a Cooper Houghton score. He Doubled and then scored on a Severson Double.
We went 3-0 up in the fifth as McCauley got a walk. He then moved to Third on a double by Bielecki and then scampered for home to make it a third run for us.
It was all going so well and then the wheels fell off for Hood in the sixth. He gave a single to Hyman who then stole second base. Archambault then drove him home with a single. Archambault moved to third on a Rodriguez single. They both then scored when Crown walked and Kranz put a double into play. This left the game tied at 3-3.
Hood got through the seventh before being pulled but the game went deadly quiet and we went into extras for the second game running.
After the previous day's exertions our bullpen was really struggling when we got to the 13th with the game still tied at 3-3. Gene Pickup was back in for his first inning of the game after his 3 from the previous day.
He couldn't deliver the goods today as a single from Archambault and Rodriguez bought Crown to the plate. Crown hit a sweet one for 427 feet to score 3 runs on the homer and give the Rhinos a 6-3 victory.
That loss has put us down to 15-27 and the lads will need to pick up before tomorrows game against the Rhinos.
