So the
Russell Crowe Invitational was born. A lot of deals were wrangled and what came out of the chaos was 20 teams ready to take the field on October 2001. 10 from New Zealand and 10 from Australia.
The teams were split into a conference for each country, each team will play each team within their conference 12 times and teams outside their conference 6 times for a total of 168 games.
The top four teams from each conference will make the playoffs, and play two rounds of seven game series against each other until we're left with two teams: the best from Australia and New Zealand.
These two teams will play a seven game series called the Trans Tasman Classic. The winner of this series will allow their country to claim credit for the acting talent of Russell Crowe.
