I've tried that too (although I hate it being there - habit, I suppose). It changes nothing in the game screen and makes the most insignificant change to the player profile screen.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything again today, including deleting all the historical ballparks etc and it doesn't seem to make any difference. Very frustrating.
