drhay53. Your first paragraph summary has been my in game experience.

Thus I make sure to adjust the lineups manually before each game and do not use this feature. Most times, this goes real quick with no changes. Other times it takes a few minutes to move the tired players out and the subs in. Click Auto-play, review results and repeat. I could not play any other way because the outcome of today's game will affect my decision for tomorrow's. Did a player have an O-fer day, than he may be benched in favor of a sub that pitch-hit with a grand-slam to win the game.

The AI also makes a mess of the lineup when the subs come in as they simply do not go into the slot of the player they replace. They go wherever the AI wants to place them, usually number 8 and the number 8 batter goes somewhere else. This could lead to your catcher batting first. I've seen it way too many times to count.

Don't let the AI assist you in any way. It is not smarter than your are nor does it know what your goals are. You are the manger, do it yourself each day or use the 7-day lineup feature and plan out the subs/lineups ahead of time.
