April Update



St Louis Brown Stockings (14-7 First Place)
St Louis looks to the early favorite to win this year. Their pitching staff so fat this season is ranked 5th, but they get on base alot. Third in the league for batting average, their top players are Mike Dorgan (.355 BA) and Abner Powell (.325 BA). Pitching wise, Tim Keefe (5-2, 2.36era) leads the staff.

Cleveland Blues (14-7, First Place)
Cleveland is hoping to make it two in a row this season. They lead in HRs, with Cap Anson (3). 7-1 at home as the Blues try to stay near the top. Jersey Bakley (5-2, 2.40 era) and Bill Henry Taylor (5-2, 1.75 era) are the top pitchers.

Washington Nationals (14-8 Second Place)
We are trying to stat competitive this season, Deacon White (.220, 9 RBIs) and Jim O'Rourke (.238, 2 RBIs) are off to a slow start. On the other side of the diamond, Ed Morris (5-3, 0.86 era) and Frank Mountain (5-1, 1.31 era) are giving us a shot.

Louisville Eclipse (11-11 Third Place)
Pete Browning (.356, 1 HR, 11 RBIs) is the sole batting star on this young club. Rookie Ed Daily (4-2, 2.25 era) is shouldered with the task of leading the pitching staff.

Detroit Wolverines (10-11 Fourth Place)
Orator Shafer (.224, 8 RBIs) is not performing while second year man, Dave Orr (.353, 2 HRs 14 RBIs). Mickey Welch (5-2, 1.01 era) is the top pitcher.

Baltimore Orioles (10-12 Fifth Place)
As with most of the teams in the American League, only a few players are batting well, Orioles were not the exception. Bill Gleason (.324, 5 RBIs) lead the team. Charlie Sweeney (3-2, 1.77 era) is the top pitcher

Philadelphia Athletics (7-14 Sixth Place)
Now the Athletics have three batters doing well, Pete Gillespie (.322, 9 RBIs), Guy Hecker (.329, HR, 9 RBIs), and Tom Burns (.321, 11 RBIs). But the pitching staff is not doing as well. Alex Voss (4-3, 1.45 era) is the only one standing out.

New York Metropolitans (6-16 Seventh Place)
Last place New Yorkhas a job to to to be able to stay in the hunt. Rookie Shadow Pyle (0-3, 3.96 era) is getting the nod for the starting rotation. The other Rookie Tom Lee (0-4, 4.76 era) is not doing well also. The teams is primarily composed of rookies. Sam Thompson (.227, 2 HRs, 12 RBIs) is the leader.
