Providence Grays (14-8 Second)
Grays are only 1.5 games behind us, thanks to a mini 5 game winning streak. Charlie Ferguson (6-1, 1.11 era) is back to his form from last season. Jim Glasscock (.363, 2 HR, 13 RBIs) was named the AL Batter of the Month.
St Louis Browns (14-9 Third)

Louisville Colonels (10-12 Fifth)

Detroit Wolverines (10-13 Sixth)
Detroit's pitching staff is the worst in the AL. Monk Cline (.297, 10 RBIs) is doing well at cleanup.
New York Metropolitans (7-14 Seventh)
Last years worst AL team is not much better. Bob Emslie (1-6, 1.80 era) is off to a bad start once again.
Baltimore Orioles (7-15 Eighth)
Orioles BA is a mere .189 and that is the worst in the AL. That leads to a 2-8 recond the last 10 games.
National League
Chicago White Stockings (16-9 First)
Chicago is the shocking underdogs this season. Dan Brouthers (.386, 5 HR, 23 RBIs) was named the NL Batter of the Month. Bill Sweeney (7-1, 3.00 era) leads the NL.
Philadelphia Quakers (13-10 Second)
Sadie Houck (.384, HR, 16 RBIs) is right behind Brouthers in BA. At 37 Dick McBride (5-2, 2.69 era) might well be on his last season pitching.
Cincinnati Red Stockings (11-10 Third)
Last year's runner up to the WS is struggling. 4-6 in their last 10 games, they are favored to once again win the NL.
New York Giants (11-10 Third)
Dude Easterbrook (.346, 15 RBIs) is on his way to a another .300 season. James Burke (3-3, 1.83 era) is off to slow start.
St Louis Maroons (11-11 Fourth)
Last years WS Champ is off to slow start too. After moving to the NL from the AL, the Maroons' star player Cap Anson (.299, 10 RBIs) is feeling the pain.
Brooklyn Grays (10-12 Fifth)
Old Hoss Radbourn (6-3, 2.79 era) is still going strong at age 30. Fred Dunlap (.307, 7 RBIs) is one of the top hitters that is not producing much at the moment.
Pittsburgh Alleghenys (9-13 Sixth)
The only stars on the team are Roger Connor (.329, 10 RBIs) and Bid McPhee (.286, 9 RBIs).
Boston Beaneaters (9-13 Sixth)
The worst team in the NL in BA, a measly .216.
