I'd need to see their exact record to be sure. One thing that can happen: mangement tends to expect improvement, so if a team does very well one season that can create unrealistic expectations. If they're still doing well the next year but aren't quite as dominant - and that trend continues over time - that can hurt the coach's job security even if the team is still at/near the top of the league.
