The following examples assume the player's field position is RF. - DH disabled: Simply change the player's position from P to RF or vice versa.
- DH enabled, move DH to RF: Change the player's position from DH to whatever batting order spot you want the pitcher to occupy, then from that position to RF. Fill the empty positions if necessary. The team will lose DH rights for the remainder of the game. (If inserting a reliever at the same time, insert him before changing the DH's position.)
- DH enabled, move DH to P: Change the player's position from DH to -, then from - to P. The team will lose DH rights for the remainder of the game, but it's the same guy batting so it doesn't make a difference for now.
- DH enabled, move RF to P: Change the DH's position to -, then change the RF's position to P and fill the empty RF spot. The team will lose DH rights for the remainder of the game.
- DH enabled, move P to RF: Change the DH's position to whatever batting order spot you want the previous pitcher to occupy, then move player positions around and insert the new pitcher into the batting order spot you want him to occupy. If you want the previous pitcher to occupy the DH's own batting order spot, click the "Remove Designated Hitter" button instead of changing the DH's position. Either way, the team will lose DH rights for the remainder of the game.
