WEEK 9
3 @ Alaska (25-23 6 GB AL West) 3 vs Minnesota (27-21 5 GB AL East) 1 @ Denver (23-25 8 GB AL West)

DOWN ON THE FARM: Every few weeks I'll try and give a look at a prospect at each level of the system. In case anyone's following as a 'fan'
Alamogordo Rivermen – SS Robby Flowers Age 24 Hgt 6'1” Wgt 195
2005 Stats
AA-.276/.326/395 1 HR 17 RBI 86 PA
AAA-.328/.368/.469 1 HR 7 RBI 68 PA
A 2002 graduate of Virginia Tech where he was a 2000 All American Robbie was drafted iin the 11th round (88th overall) as a sig,n and follow. However something changed and he took the 125k offer from Oklahoma. A player we had on our short list from day 1 we managed to deal SS Chris McCune, SP's Ajani Kirnon and Whitney Roswell along with our 6th rounder to acquire him in January of this year.

He is an elite defender at 2B, SS and 3B with one of the games strongest arms. Has oustanding range too. An above average runner who puts the bat on the ball. He's a potential 2 hole or 9 hole sort of hitter. His flexibility on defense makes him a tremendous off the bench option if he ends up having issues being out there every day.

Clovis Kangaroos – 3B Luis Figueroa Age 24 Hgt 5' Wgt 205
2005 Stats
AA-.353/.486/.727 13 HR 35 RBI 177 PA
An international find out of Panama Luis signed on with Milwaukee as a 16 year old. He spent a few years in their system and played in some all star games before becoming a minor league free agent last year. We signed him in November and he's done nothing but hit ever since.
He has + power line to line and will hit for average a bit. He's posted an OPS of 1.002 or higher in every minor league season since 1999. He might also be the slowest runner in the entire ABA, possibly the western hemishpere. Has an above average arm but that hasn't translated to anything yet as he's seen as a below average defender. His speed also limits him to 3B for the most part defensively. He's been nothing short of a surprise hitting to this level of power. He was promoted to AAA today.

ORGANIZATION NEWS: Luis Figueroa is now 6-14 with 2 HR 5 RBI through his 1st 3 games in AAA

GM NOTES: Recently signed free agent Luca Martignoni hasn't even made a start yet but my old buddy in Minnesota Paul Herrmann reached out today. He offered up a 24 year old infield prospect in Tim Richards, I asked him to add a relief prospect in Jeremy Mycroft AND their 5th round pick, and I added our 6th to the deal. Richards hit 31 HR in A ball last year and .355 during a short stint at AA. This year he's hitting .304/.345/.473 with 6 HR and 26 RBI's through 43 games. He's a ++ defender at short and above average at third. Also can play some 2B and left. He was their 3rd pick in 2002 out of Missouri U. Mycroft was the Texans #1 pick in 2003 out of the University of Arizona (13th overall). He was traded this February along with SS Greg Graves to Minnesota for starter Rob Gourley.

He's taking time to think it over. This was exactly the reason I keep scouring the wires and checking on free agents. This guy was out there for them to sign a week ago, now I may potentially be sending him there for two prospects and a better pick in the draft.

Hammered 33-14 in the series. Pitching feels like it cannot get much worse. Defensively we've been bad the past few days as we've given up 11 unearned runs in the past 2 days alone.
