This is an OOTP18 story, but I had an infielder with great defensive ratings who was really error prone for some reason, to the point I'd sometimes substitute an inferior defensive player (ratings-wise) defensively. I simply didn't trust him. One day I got so frustrated with him after yet another error, I immediately traded him after a game. I subsequently brought him back on two separate occasions (he was my version of Billy Martin), but after a particularly costly error in a postseason game, I made a vow that he'd never play another game for my team. To date, he hasn't.

It's these situations where I really wish OOTP had a more robust system for interacting with players. Eastside Hockey Manager had a good system, and I particularly liked its ability to issue fines to players for things like poor performance, violent behaviour, and simply no reason at all. It could be very satisfying sometimes.
