June 1st 1889 Update
American League News: The whole league is within 5 games of each other. Not one team has broken out to an early lead with multiple teams being in first place. Ed McKean
(Indianapolis .350, 2 HR, 16 RBIs) is the top hitter with Washington's John O'Rourke at .343. Hank Gastright (Columbus 9-2, 1.91 era) is the dominate pitcher in the league.
National League News: Kansas City is off to the races with their 22-10 record. Charlie Ferguson is perfect for the Cowboys at 5-0. Dan Brouthers (Chicago, .364, 18 RBIs) is
bouncing back from a mediocre 1888 season.
Washington Nationals News: After a 4-1 April, the Nationals crumbled in May to land in last place once again. Hardie Richardson (.206, HR, 13 RBIs) and Germany Smith
(.111, 4 RBIs) have not pulled their weight. A few bright spots thou, 41 year old Deacon White collected his 2000th hit and George Van Haltren pitched a shut out.
