  • At Farmington Arturo Mendoza fell to 0-3 5.40 in 3 starts. He's not throwing terrible but he has a 10/7 KK/BB ratio in 16.2 IP
  • Our defensive efficiency sits at .741, which is tops in the ABA. That was a big goal this winter, to improve the defense. A goal I'd hoped to achieve over the next 2-3 offseasons and this is far sooner than expected. It's definitely one of the big reasons behind the teams' early success.
  • 4/21: DEN 7 FLA 6 Pat Scott 3-5 2B HR (4) 2 RBI (9)
  • Figueroa 3-4 2B HBP (.344-3-14) Chase 7 ER 5 IP (2-1 4.33)
  • Heading to Minnesota. Mike Haupt should be well received . Chris Hastings is hitting .262-4-9 and last years #1 overall pick Joe Linn actually broke camp with the big club and is in a long relief role.
  • 4/22: FLA 12 MIN 5 A 9 run top of the 9th turned a 5-3 deficit into a 12-5 win. Former Tarpon Juan Pedemonte gave up 5 hits and 5 ER without recording an out in the 9th. Ismael Orta took a 5-0 lead into the 8th. 8 IP 6 K 8 H 3 ER ND

  • 9th inning went 1B, K, 2B, 1B, HR, Pedemonte comes in 2B, 1B, 1B, 1B, 1B

    CLUBHOUSE NEWS
DH Chris Grider made comments post game that has many, including manager Kevin Jackson, in a pissed off mood. To paraphrase his comments he basically made it clear to anyone and everyone that while “I love to win”, losing “isn't something I take home”. In and of itself that's fine, but later in the interview when talking about the loss to Denver 2 nights ago “Hey man, don't look at me, I did my job”.....Stay tuned.

    NEWS FROM ABROAD
Clemson ace and prize prospect Nehemiah Russaw no-hit the Duke Blue Devils today. He is a player many clubs have in the upper 1st round on their board, including us. He's 5-0 1.87 with 75.2 IP 29 H 59 K this year. Clemson is ranked #1 across college baseball and they're featuring some future ABA talent in addition to Russaw. Freshman Chris Blasberg is hitting .310-5-15 and scouts have his offense as potential 1st round ceiling.

  • 4/23: FLA 12 MIN 7 Chris Hastings went 4-5 2B HR 3 RBI and reliever John Doherty apparently thought his HR trot in the 7th was a bit much. Doherty drilled the next hitter Mike Sestak and the benches cleared.
  • Haupt 2-5 HR (6) 3 RBI Barranco 2-4 2B (5) HR (4) 4 RBI (19) and Chris Grider drilled a PH Grand Slam. Tim Agresta W (2-0 7.65) 6.2 IP 10 H 3 K 5 ER
  • We touched up Joe Linn in 1.2 innings of work hitting a HR and scoring 3.
