August 1890 Update
American League New: Rochester stumbled out of first place thanks to an 8 game losing streak to finish out the month at 10-18. St Louis Browns are now in first place with their 17-11 month.
The Syracuse Stars started the month off strong then twizzled out towards the end, but still a respectful 16-12. The Stars are short two pitchers on the DL, Cy Young (6-11, 3.21) and John Kirby
(8-5, 4.49 era). Bug Holliday (St Louis .399. 6 HR, 75 RBIs) is close to hitting .400.
National League News: Boston and New York are still beating up on each other, and the other teams. Jessie Burkett (Brooklyn) was named the Rookie of the Month (.317, 3 HR, 13 RBIs for the month)

Newark is about to distant themselves from the rest of the teams. George Shafer (Jersey City) is leading all the batters with
his .372 average. At 24-8, Wild Bill Widner (Newark) is the pitching leader.
New England League
Pawtucket is on top with a 6 game lead with 37 games to go in the season. Duke Jantzen (Cambridge) has 17 HRs.
