May 10th, 2024: Max Povse is off to AAA to begin his rehab assignment.

Ender Inciarte of the Yankees rose his hit streak to 20 in a 3-2 loss to the Blue Jays. Rhys Hoskins hit his 300th career homer as the Bo Sox beat the Tigers 7-2.

Now just 1.5 games out, we'd host the Royals for two to start our 6 game homestand. We'd see Alec Mills (2-3, 6.89 ERA) and former Marlin Tyler Mahle (1-1, 4.43 ERA) from the 16-16 Royals.

May 11th, 2024: The White Sox lost RHP Ryan eades for the year with a torn labrum. In 6 starts, he was 2-2 with a 4.55 ERA.

Jordan Montgomery (3-2, 1.75 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) hosted the Royals and Alex Mills (2-3, 6.89 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) as we opened the quick two game set. It was a tight one, but we edged them out 2-1 to start the series.

Monty was brilliant, 6 innings with just a single run and walk, 4 hits, and 4 strikeouts. Ernesto Estrella got the win, tossing 2 innings and getting 2 strikeouts with just 1 hit. Jorge Moya earned the save with 2 strikeotus in a perfect 9th.

We only had two hits, but it was enough to take this one. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-2 with a walk and triple. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a solo homer.

Kyle Seager hit his 300th homer ans the Phillies beat the White Sox 8-7.

May 13th, 2024: Now just half a game out of first, we looked to finish the sweep with Mike Soroka (4-2, 3.96 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) battling Tyler Mahle (1-1, 4.43 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). It was his first game back in Miami, so we gave him a nice welcome back. So nice, in fact, that we tallied 10 runs off them to win the finale 10-6.

Soroka had a rough outing, 5 runs (4 earned) in 4 innings off 4 hits, a walk, and three strikeouts. He was hurt by a 5 run 2nd. Toussaint got the win against the team that waived him, 2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts, to lower his Malrins ERA to 1.23. Tyler Jay allowed a run in 1.2 innings with a hit, walk, and strikeout.

Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a RBI, solo homer, and steal. Lewis Brinson hit a pinch hit grand slam in the 4th. Seth Beer was 1-for-5 with a solo homer. Brendan Rodgers was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Blake Tiberi was 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored, and RBI.

Inciarte's hit streak was snapped at 21.

We're still just a half game out of first, but we'd host the 17-17 Brewers for four. We'd see most of the rotation, Denyi Reyes (1-3, 4.64 ERA), Jimmy Nelson (0-4, 5.34 ERA), Thomas Hatch (4-1, 2.56 ERA), and Jacob Nix (2-3, 5.25 ERA).

May 13th, 2024: A fresh batch of Power Rankings has us right where we belong: 1st place. The Mets dropped to third, with the Mariners between us. I like to think me and the Mariners have funded each other with all the trades we've made.

We opened the Brewers series with Jake Florence (2-3, 4.09 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Denyi Reyes (1-3, 4.64 ERA, 1.33 WHIP). It was a near-perfect way to open the series, a nice 10-0 shutout to start the four game series off on the right foot. Florence tossed 5.1 shutout innings with 3 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. The rest of the pen combined for 3.2 innings, with just 1 hit and 4 strikeouts.

May 15th, 2024: Well, my former 2nd Round Jaheim Meggett finally gets on the 40-man roster, but partially tore his UCL, costing him his season. For now, he'll stay on the minor league DL, but eventually, he'll need to be transfered.

The Mets got a big blow to their rotation, losing David Peterson for the year. He was 4-3 with a 2.66 ERA to start the season as the Mets cling on to a half game lead.

We looked to stay hot with Walker Bueler (1-3, 5.18 ERA, 1.48 WHIP) taking on Jimmy Nelson (0-4, 5.34 ERA, 1.81 WHIP). Neither pitcher should be struggling as much as they are to start the season. The starters were great, and late scoring was what made the difference. Both teams scored 1 in the 8th, and we lead 2-1 heading into the 9th. Moya blew the save, and the Brew Crew tied it at 2. Former Brewer Lewis Brinson launched a pinch-hit, 2 run homer as we walked off winners.

Buehler looked like himself, 7 shutout innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers allowed a run in 0.2 innings with a pair of hits and a strikeout. Moya, who ended up getting the win, allowing a solo homer, walk, and got a strikeout in the top of the 9th.

May 15th, 2024: I traded LHP Tyler Jay and LF Brody Cook to the Angels for RHP Hansel Robles. Robles is about as talented as Jay (if not better) and is a righty, which helps balance my pen a bit better. Jay was struggling, and Robles has 17 strikeouts in 13.1 innings with a passable 4.05 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.

The Dodgers lost young righty Kevin Jalbert for the year with radial nerve compression. The former 2nd Rounder wasn't off to the best start, but he has top of the rotation potential.

We looked to win the series today with Garrett McDaniels (0-0, 4.76 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) facing former Marlin Thomas Hatch (4-1, 2.56 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). For some reason the ice cold Nick Gordon is hitting 4th, but I trust Aaron Boone. And just like magic, he was 2-for-4 in the 4-2 win.

McDaniels went 5.2 innings, with 6 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Yasukazu Shiotani tossed 1.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, a run, and a walk, but earned the win. Alpha Quivers got a hold, and Moya struck out the last two hitters to earn the save.

Austin Hedges was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI's. Brendan Rodgers was 3-for-4 wtih a double and 2 runs scored. Adam Haseley was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

And finally, the Mets decided to lose, and we now have 1st place all to ourselves!

Montgomery tossed 5.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, a walk, and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Shiotani and Ernesto Estrella earned holds before we scored 3 in the 7th. Toussaint allowd a run and a hit in the 8th, but struck out the side.

We've got a big road trip ahead of us, and I checked our splits, we're actually 9-7 on the road. I couldn't believe it! We start with the Pirates for four, facing Trevor Williams (0-1, 3.05 ERA), Nick Burdi (2-1, 4.60 ERA), Mitch Keller (4-1, 3.65 ERA), and Gage Hisz (3-3, 4.43 ERA). I'm worried about fatigue setting in, as we don't have a day off until the 27th.
