JULY REVIEW
STAT LEADERS
Wow, back to back triple crowns? What a month he had. Speaking of triple crowns, Winton Alward has apparently put the league on notice. There have been 5 triple crowns in ABA history, only 1 pitching. Mike Olson in 1996 went 19-7 2.29 296 K for Jaxonville in winning his 3rd Koufax. He was a 4 time World Series Champion.
The NL East is looking at being historically bad. Stunningly bad. It looks like the Central divisions will provide the only real pennant races this year. Frisco is cruising in the NL West although Portland has had a great 2 months. 27-28 on June 1st they've gone 35-19 since. They own the NL in almost every offensive category while at the same time they are quite literally last in almost every single pitching/defense category except for K's. ERA, Bullpen ERA, RA, Hits, Opp Avg, BABIP Defense. Their .321 BABIP as a TEAM is insane.
Detroit has gotten hot. To be honest their roster is so much deeper 1-25 than ours, for now. I think the Barlow deal changes everything about this organization from a development perspective. I'll be shocked if we don't have the top-ranked, or second best minors system in the game. Memphis and Chicago appear to be taking it to the end while Vegas has wrapped up the West on August 1st. We are 7.5 up on Alaska for the 2nd WC spot and I absolutely expect this team to win one of the wild card positions regardless of the trade. We have talent enough to capably fill the holes we opened.
