It really is amazing, jaw-droppingly bizarre. The man has a 0.87 ERA in his last 10 starts and the Mets are 2-8 in them. Can you win the Cy Young Award with less than five wins?
They had two guys in the starting lineup yesterday batting under .200 and another guy batting exactly at .200 when the day was done (with only two Mets hits). Two more players in that lineup are batting under .220. That's five out of eight position players and the rest were Frazier .227, Rosario .237, and Nimmo .265.
But it's more than that. "Conforto’s hit was his first in 10 days. Frazier is 5-for-27 (.185) with 11 strikeouts and one walk since coming off the disabled list. Bruce is hitting .193 the past month. Even Asdrubal Cabrera is in a 4-for-42 (.095) funk the past two weeks."
I'm trying to remember if I have ever seen futility like this in all the decades that I have been following baseball.
