TARPONS SEND RAND, FIGUEROA TO BUFFALO
The Florida Tarpons have dealt a pair of 26-year-olds, OF TJ Rand (.292-1-18) and 3B Luis Figueroa (.263-5-11) to the Buffalo Nickels in exchange for 26-year-old 3B Zach Gibbons and 28-year-old RP Josh McTaggart and 17-year-old 1B prospect Sean Connelly.

GM'S OFFICE
The last 6 months, each monthly report has seen Luis Figueroa's ability and statistical decline at 3B to the point it was no longer feasible. Case in point Buffalo immediately moved him to 1B after the deal. TJ has had a good year and is a valuable piece but Ismael Saldana has nothing left to prove at AAA and will be recalled to take over in left. Gibbons becomes our everyday 3B and is a ++ defender with a bat that could be comparable to Luis with maybe a tad less pop. The youngster was a 'throw in' with what our guys think is some power potential though likely at 1B or DH.

  • 6/8: STL 4 FLA 1 (10) Luis Herrera 3R HR in the 10th Camp ND 8 IP 4 H 1 ER 6 K Grab 3 R 3 H 2 BB 1.2 IP L (4-2 1.64)
  • Charlie Flaugher ND 8 IP 5 H 1 ER
  • Denver's nightmare continues. Ace Winton Alward, already struggling at 1-5 4.34 sprained his ankle in today's game and will miss the next 2+ months.
  • 6/9: PHX 3 FLA 2 (13) Agresta 7 IP 3 H 2 ER
  • Juan Beza 7.1 IP 5 K 2 ER
  • 6/10: FLA 8 PHX 6 Haupt 2-3 HR 2 BB 2 R 2 RBI Ramirez ND 4 IP 7 K 4 H 3 ER 91 pitches.
