May 31st-June 4th

May 31st, 2018: This will be a quick one as the draft is the 4th, a day off for the team.

We opened up the series with the Yankees and Gabriel Ynoa (1-0, 3.65 ERA, 1.22 WHIP) took on Sonny Gray (2-5, 4.55 ERA, 1.30 WHIP). We got three in the eigth, and took the opener 6-5.

Ynoa left with a herniated disc, and will miss 7-8 weeks. He went 3 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, and he got a punch out. Jhan Marinez allowed a run and walk in 0.2 innings with a strikeout. Miguel Castro tossed 1.2 innings wtih 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jeremy Jeffress got the win, 2 innings with a walk, and Brad Brach got the save, allowing a hit, run, and strikeout in the 9th.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored, and solo homer. Adam Jones was 2-for-5 with a double and steal. Max Stassi was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Mark Trumbo was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with 2 runs scored.

With Ynoa heading to the DL, I recalled Alex Cobb from his rehab.

Luiz Gohara of the Braves tossed a 6-hit shutout as his team won 4-0 against the Nationals. Corey Kluber tossed a 4-hit shutout in a 9-0 Indians win over the Twins.

June 1st, 2018: Norfolk LF D.J. Stewart was named Batter of the Month. He hit .361 with 5 homers, 26 RBI's, and 31 runs scored.

Delmarva RP Ryan Burr was named South Atlantic Pitcher of the Month, working a 0.60 ERA with 9 saves and 21 strikeouts in 15 innings. I acquired him from the White Sox earlier in the year.

Game two saw Dylan Bundy (2-1, 4.74 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) face Chad Green (2-2, 5.92 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) who's moved back to the rotation. The Yanks offense was efficient, and they evened the series with a 8-2 win, with just 5 hits.

Bundy went 5.2, allowing 4 hits, 7 runs, and 3 walks, while striking out 3. Bruce Rondon went 1.1 with a run, walk, and strikeout. Mychal Givens tossed 2 shutout with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Mike Yastrzemski was 1-for-4 with a double. Chris Davis was 2-for-4 with a double. Manny Machado was 1-for-4 with a run and RBI. Trey Mancini was 0-for-1 with a run and 3 walks. Mark Trumbo was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly.

June 2nd, 2018: We looked to take the third game with Kevin Gausman (5-3, 4.65 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) facing 37-year-old Chris Smith (1-1, 5.21 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). The Yanks edged us 4-3 to take the 2-1 series lead.

Gausman went 6, allowing 2 runs, 8 hits, 2 walks, and getting 5 strikeouts. Enny Romero got the loss, getting a strikeout, walk, and run. Jeremy Jefress faced two batters, walked one and allowed a hit, and was charged with a run.

All three runs were solo homers. Caleb Joseph was 2-for-2 with a solo homer and walk. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a solo shot. Chris Davis was 1-for-3 with a solo shot.

June 3rd, 2018: Today's game was rained out, so we'd have two straight off days. Tomorrow is the Amateur Draft, so I'll have a special draft edition for my first draft in Baltimore, that hopefully goes better then my Miami drafts...

June 4th, 2018: I claimed Mason Williams off waivers and designated RP Jhan Marinez for assignment. Williams gives me an OF option off the bench.

We're also down to 15th in the Power Rankings.

We'll head to New York for two to play the Mets, facing Zack Wheeler (2-3, 2.67 ERA) and Noah Syndergaard (4-3, 3.12 ERA).
