Wow. League leaders on pace for 35 or so home runs and 110 RBI's. That was a 1st half home run total a few years ago. MVP and Koufax races all tightened up. Clearly, the running game is in full swing in both leagues.
Check out Chicago and the AL stolen base leaders.
I did a double take looking at the NL West. All 4 teams had abysmal May's and/or Junes. The worm turns in the NL East. A few seasons ago Pittsburgh had to win on the final day to win the division AND finish at .500. The power in the NL has clearly shifted. Central is heading the same way as the west. The great thing is there are 8 teams that will likely be, actually 11 in the NL, in buy mode over the next month. Including the AL you could have close to 20 teams. Also some obvious sellers, St Louis, Milwaukee, Austin.
Beating Detroit to open the series has us tied July 1st. Domenic Loetzsch is back at it. Both New York clubs were on fire early but appear to either be slumping or regressing to their true selves. I didn't have either team as a top of the division club entering the season. There's going to be some GM's and Managers getting the axes soon.
