TRADE RUMORS SURFACE OUT OF MILWAUKEE
The word from a league source has that the Milwaukee Hawks were minutes away from trading star 1B Tyshawn Ogarro at this year's deadline. The 24-year-old was asked about the story after last nights game and he replied “I don't know, don't care. I'm here to play baseball, hit, and make a lot of money, go ask the GM about this crap”
Sources say Milwaukee was close to landing a 'franchise' prospect for the star but that the team on the other side of the deal backed away amidst concerns around Ogarro's 'off the field' issues.
“The deal was literally ready to be called into the league, at 11:55 on the 31st when the GM of the 2nd team told me “I'm not risking a future Koufax winner for a guy who can destroy righthanders, barely survive lefties and is on an island in the clubhouse. Plus we hear he's a nightmare to keep under his weight clause”.
Many baseball people believe the 2nd team was either Minnesota and involved P prospects Kinimichi Mikami and Alfredo Canino or Florida and the games #1 ranked prospect Kinnon Mendelson. Even though Mendelson underwent Tommy John surgery recently and will not return until mid 2009 at the earliest.
