June 13th-June 19th

June 13th, 2025: 4th Rounder SS Nate Lewis agreed to a $240,000 bonus. 5th Rounder Mike Merrill agreed to a $190,000.

We got the day off today, but we'd welcome Pittsburgh to home next. We'd face Mitch Keller (1-8, 5.53 ERA), Ken Haugen (4-7, 4.37 ERA), and Shane Baz (2-6, 4.69 ERA).

June 14th, 2025: We opened up the series with Steve Paustian (2-3, 3.90 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) facing Mitch Keller (1-8, 5.53 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). The game says we have an advantage at every position except pitcher. We took the opener 5-3, and didn't let the now 16-49 Pirates have a lead all game.

Paustian went 5.1 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Chasen Shreve got the win, improving to 5-0 with 2 strikeouts in the 7th. Alpha Quivers got the hold and Jorge Moya got the save.

Deshawn Hardamon was 3-for-4 with 2 runs and a solo homer. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, solo shot, and walk. Lazaro Armenteros was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Didi Gregorious was 5-for-6 in a 8-7 Red Sox loss to the Mariners. Joey Gallo hit his 400th career homer in a Rangers 7-6 win over the Tigers.

June 15th, 2025: I signed 2nd Rounder Luis Nevi to a $530,000 bonus and 3rd Rounder Andy Neidig to a $170,000 bonus.

We looked to win the series a day early with Dinelson Lamet (4-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) facing Ken Haugen (4-7, 4.37 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). I have no clue what happened today, and we were crushed by the Pirates 11-1.

Ben Popkin left with injury... He was the only pitcher who didn't allow a run. He went 0.2 innings with a strikeout.

Lamet went 4.1 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs (4 earned), 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Ramon Perez went 0.2 innings with 2 hits, 3 runs, a walk, a strikeout. Marc Bjork went 2 innings, allowing a hit, run, walk, and 3 strikeotus. Cliff Merritt went 1.1 innigs with a hit, 2 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-2 with a double. Mickey Moniak was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

June 16th, 2025: At 38-27, we fell to 6th in the Power Rankings. If we don't win this series, we should fall all the way to 30th...

The Dodgers traded RHP Song-shil Su to the Rangers for 1B Dominic Smith. I like this deal for the Dodgers.

Houston sent 3B Freudis Nava to the Rays for LHP Braxton Garrett, a former Marlin. It's a pretty fair deal.

We looked to win the series with Walker Buehler (4-0, 1.75 ERA, 0.84 WHIP) taking on Shane Baz (2-6, 4.69 ERA, 1.51 WHIP). It was a close one, but we edged them 5-4.

Buehler went 5, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and he struck out 6. Shoehi Ohtani allowed 2 runs in an innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts, but got the win. Chasen Shreve and Alpha Quivers got holds and Moya got the save.

Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and sacrafice bunt. Deshawn Hardamon was 3-for-4 with a double. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI double. Austin Hendrick was 1-for-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Mickey Moniak was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a 2 run double.

We welcome St. Louis to town, but sit 2.5 games out of first, but 2.5 games above the 2nd Wild Card. We'll see Steve Nogosek (2-2, 3.12 ERA), Joe Ross (1-3, 5.74 ERA), and Albert Abreu (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

June 17th, 2025: Ben Popkin tore his ular collateral ligament, and will miss 11 months. I purchased the contract of 2022 8th Round pick Greg Walston. He's tossed 10 innings with 4 saves and a 0.90 ERA to go wtih a 0.60 WHIP in AAA so far.

Here's what I wrote when I drafted him:

8th Round, 245th Overall: RP Greg Walston (3): A college stopper who can shoot up to the big leagues. He's got two solid pitches and can thrown in the upper 90s with his cutter. He's going to be a dependable 6th inning guy, even as soon as next year.

He did shoot up the system, starting in A- and he didn't pitch above A+ before this season. He was great in AA and AAA this year, and in most levels. He's now rated a 3.5/4, with amazing stuff, a 95-97 cut fastball and plus plus control.

Dinelson Lamet wants an extension, but he wants 6-years for $126,000,000. A lot more then the $1.7 million he currently makes.

We opened the Cardinals series with Jake Florence (4-5, 5.31 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) taking on Steve Nogosek (2-2, 3.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP) who is severely over performing compared to Florence's underachievement. Against another bad team, we dropped 4-2.

Florence went 4 innings, allowing 6 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Walston made his debut, a perfect 7th with a strikeout. Chasen Shreve struck out the side in the 8th.

Mickey Moniak was 0-foe-2, but walked twice, stole two bases, and scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a steal.

Eloy Jimenez of the Mariners improved his hit streak to 20 in a 5-2 win over the Astros.

June 18th, 2025: We looked to bounce back with Mike Soroka (3-6, 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP) taking on Joe Ross (1-3, 5.74 ERA, 1.28 WHIP). We lead 1-0 entering the 7th, and then exploded for 6 in the 7th and 7 in the 8th to finish off a 14-1 win.

Soroka was brilliant, tossing 8 shutout innings with 4 hits and 6 strikeouts. Marc Bjork pitched the 9th, allowing a solo homer and getting 2 strikeouts.

Austin Hedges had a game of his like, going 4-for-5 and was a triple away from the cycle. He homered twice, scored 3 times, drove in 4, and rose his average to .169 for the season. Good thing they love him in the clubhouse and the pitchers love having him behind the plate...

Lazaro Armenteros was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, and 4 RBI's. Seth Beer was 1-for-5 with a run scored and double. Mickey Moniak was a perfect 4-for-4, all singles, with 2 runs and a walk. Jr. was 2-for-4 with a RBI, 2 runs, and a walk. Soroka himself was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

June 19th, 2025: Fan vote update: Dillard ranks 1st for catchers. Moniak ranks third for center field. Ohtani leads all right fielders. Quivers is up to 4th in relief voting.

We looked to win the finale and series, with Steve Paustian (2-3, 3.98 ERA, 1.51 WHIP) facing Albert Abreu (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). We were down 4-3 heading to the 9th, but Seth Beer tied it with a walk off. Fast foward to the 11th, and Moniak walked it off with an RBI single as we won the finale 5-4.

Paustian went 6, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out 8. Wlaston earned a hold, allowing a hit in a scorless 7th. Quivers allowed a run off a hit while getting a strikeout, and Cliff Merritt allowed a run off 2 hits and a walk without getting an out. Marc Bjork got the win, striking out the site in the top of the 11th.

Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, walk, double, and 2 runs scored. Moniak was 2-for-6 with a pair of singles. Shoehi Ohtani was 2-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Austin Hendrick was 1-for-2 with a double and run scored. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with a run driven in and walk.

Rangers SS Nander de Sedas hit for the cycle in a 28-10 loss to the Rays. Wow...

Fed up with Merritt, I traded him to the Mets for Luis Delgado with all his money retained. The lefty is injured currently and will head to the DL, but it gives me roster freedom and I have a waiver claim submitted to replace Merritt. He's rated a 3.5* with a wicked curve and is a great arm out of the pen. I'm teompararily calling up Estrella.

We're off to Washington for a four game series with the Nationals. We'll see Cole Ragans (6-3, 4.02 ERA), Gage Hinsz (7-2, 3.13 ERA), Sonny Warner (2-1, 4.78 ERA), and an un-named 4th starter.
