July 18th-July 24th

July 18th, 2025: I optioned LF Cole Roederer to AAA, since Lazaro Armenteros would be recalled after the break.

July 19th, 2025: Today is the All-Star Game! The Cubs Jorge Flores (9-0, 3.21 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) battled the Mariners Segio Barreto (5-4, 3.21 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). The NL lineup was insanely stacked, although for some reason Keibert Ruiz started over Thomas Dillard. Shoehi Ohtani hit 8th and played RF. It was a close one, but Reds 1B Jamie Serger hit a walk off solo homer off the Tigers Edwin Diaz.

Bjork pitched the 2nd and allowed just 1 hit. Buehler pitched a perfect 5th inning with a strikeout. Ohtani was 0-for-3. Dillard was 0-for-1 with a walk. Mike Soroka did not play.

July 20th, 2025: I made a big trade to bolster the pen, acquiring CL Hyo-jin Yaung from the Cardinals for RP Patrick Raby and 1B Juan Valera.

The 27-year-old Yaung just came over from the KBO, and makes $13,000,000 per year before he'll hit arbitration. He's rated a 5/5 with 100 stuff that features a 100 slider. His pitches move well and he's got great control. He's got 8 saves and a 2.63 ERA in 27.1 innings with 46 strikeouts and a 1.28 WHIP. Him and Quivers will make a crazy good 1-2 punch before Moya, soldifying my bullpen that easilly ranks #1 in the majors (not counting the scrubs I've had to callup with injuries).

July 21st, 2025: We remain #1 in the Power Rankings as the second half starts tomorrow with a three game series at home against the first place Braves. We'll see Cole Winn (9-4, 2.79 ERA), Chris Helmick (9-4, 4.22 ERA), and Ty Madden (5-5, 4.54 ERA) to start the second half.

July 22nd, 2025: We open part two with Jake Florence (5-6, 4.27 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) facing Cole Winn (9-4, 2.79 ERA, 0.93 WHIP). Lazaro Armenteros rejoined the roster, hitting 7th and playing CF. With a 5-2 win to start the series, we tied the Braves for first place.

Deshawn Hardamon left the game with a foot contusion, and he'll miss 2 weeks. He went 1-for-2 with a solo shot. And I'll need to find another infielder...

Florence went 6 innings, allownig 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Quivers and Yuang got holds and Moya got the save. Yaung's Marlins debut wasn't perfect, he walked 2, but he got a strikeout and didn't allow a hit.

Vlad Jr. was 2-for-4 with a solo shot and double. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a solo shot, 2 total runs, and a walk. Shoehi Ohtani was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Seth Beer was 1-for-4 with a rather impressive stolen base.

July 23rd, 2025: I made a minor trade to acquire an infielder, sending LHP Jaheim Meggett to the Blue Jays for one of my former players, 2B Isan Diaz.

Now 29, he's hit .240/.323/.444 in 574 at bats with the White Sox and Blue Jays. He can play a little bit of everything, although second base is his main position. He'll be used off the bench, and likely designated for assignment later, although with the injuries I've had, he could last a while.

Game two saw Mike Soroka (8-6, 3.04 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) battle Lucas Sims (5-4, 4.58 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) with the winner taking first place for themselves. Caleb Balgaard made his first career start at SS today. There was a lot of early scoring, and we took the division lead with a 7-4 win.

Soroka left with back stiffness, and will miss a week. Yay... Well, it could be worse...

Lamet, who will likely replace him in the rotation, went 1.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Ramon Perez improved to 6-0 with 3 innings of work, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Walston, Quivers, and Yaung got holds, with Moya recording the save.

Balgaard hit his first career homer, a two run shot in a 1-for-3 outing. Scott Kingery was 1-for-3 with a solo shot. Vlad Jr. was 1-for-4 with a two run shot. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Shoehi Ohtnai was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Song-shil Su tossed a 3-hit shutout as the Rangers beat the Yankees 4-0.

I recalled Ernesto Estrella from AAA to replace Soroka. I now have 9 big leaguers on the DL...

July 24th, 2025: We can gain seperation with a sweep as Steve Paustian (3-3, 4.05 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) took on Chris Helmick (9-4, 4.22 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). We crushed the Braves 11-3 to finish off a perfect series to start the second half.

Of course, Marc Bjork decided to get injured, and will head to the DL for hopefully the minimum with a tender shoudler.

Paustian went 6.1 innings, allowing 7 hits with 3 runs, 4 walks, 2 strikeouts. Bjork did get a hold, 1.2 perfect innings with a strikeout. Estrella made a return with an inning and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez was 4-for-5 and a double away from the cycle. He scored three times. Vlad Jr. hit two homers in a 2-for-5 with 2 runs and 4 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-4 with a solo homer and walk. Caleb Balgaard was 2-for-5 with a 2 run double. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, and double. Seth Beer was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Lazaro Armenteros was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

Hueston Morrill hit 3 homers in a 6-5 Rangers win over the Yankees. The 24-year-old is having a great season, hitting .290 with 27 homers and 67 RBI's.

I recalled A.J. Labas from AAA. He's 8-5 with a 3.96 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this season, his first year in my system since being claimed off waivers from Oakland.

Washington comes to town for four, and we'll see Gage Hinsz (11-2, 3.04 ERA), Jhon Vergara (2-6, 5.14 ERA), Sonny Warner (4-2, 3.18 ERA), and an un-named 4th starter. We've won 8 in a row and 9 of the last 10, and we look like the team that won the World Series last year.
