VETERAN FUNICELLO SETTLES ON TARPONS
Talks of a deal between Florida and Giobbe Funicello came together today as the two sides inked a deal worth 24.425m over the next 5 years. Funicello is highly regarded around the ABA both on and off the field as a player and a leader in the clubhouse. Lifetime he is hitting .291 with 1690 hits 255 HR's 930 RBI's. He's won a gold glove, 7 silver sluggers, and is a 9-time all-star.
He is 2nd all-time in hits for catchers, trailing leader Jimmy King by just 31, he's also 4th all-time in home runs. His 255 puts him just 45 shy of becoming the 4th catcher ever to hit 300. He also ranks 2nd all-time behind Chris O'Donnell in lifetime avg, his .291 trailing by just .010.

Fans went nuts over this one. There are going to need to be some moves to pare down payroll which has lept to 28.6 million, 15th overall in the ABA. The pick was planned on. I lose my 1st rounder but the comp pick for Mike is just 5 picks later. Not optimal but imo very much worth it.
