TARPONS, WILLOUGHBY AGREE TO TERMS ON 7 YEAR EXTENSION
The Florida Tarpons have announced the signing of 27-year-old P Chad Willoughby to a 7 year 19.15 million dollar extension. The deal calls for base salaries of 850K next year, 1.8 in 2011, 2.6 in 2012 3.1 in 2013 and 3.6 in 2014 with the final two seasons as 3.6 million dollar team options. It's a record deal for the club in terms of potential length. Both sides are said to be very pleased with the outcome.

GM'S OFFICE
It's a 5-year deal and one at a number (11.950m) that will be insanely under market if he performs as we expect. Giving a deal to a 27-year-old pitcher that takes him into his 35th year is a risk in many cases but his work ethic and clubhouse presence make this one as low risk as we could hope for. The last two years will be at great numbers if he's as good as we think.

  • 4/17: FLA 4 PHX 0 Arturo Mendoza came within 1 out of his first career CG and shutout as he punched out 10 over 8.2 dominant innings. Harland Daig homered (1) and Cortezo went 3-4 with his 1st double to hopefully snap out of his season starting slump (.188-2-5).
