  • Juan Burruel (WAS) went 5-5 hitting 2 2B and driving in 2 in the Jets 10-9 win over New England. He's hitting .306-12-43 on the year
  • Shamar Scippio (SAN) won his third straight with his 2nd CG shutout in 3 starts beating in-state rival Texas 5-0. He's 7-3 3.06

ALL STAR BREAK
  • Milwaukee took the break to fire both their GM and Manager.
  • Alaska hired former Austin Colts manager Ed O'Hara on a 5-year deal. They are 5-5 since he took over.
  • Top P prospect Kinnon Mendelson is due back the week after the ABA all-star break.
  • Jerry Fine (AA) continues to wreck AA pitching. He went 2-4 and hit 2 more home runs, driving in 4 in a 12-5 loss. In 64 games this year he is hitting .283-23-72 and is on pace to drive in 140 runs. Loyal readers may remember the deal with Alaska which we sent utility IF Rob Turner as we tried to clear some roster space.
  • Braedon Newbury (MIL) took home ASG MVP honors as the AL beat the NL 7-5.
  • Tarpons in the game: Hallamore 1-2 2B 2 RBI, Flores 0-2 Galindo 1 IP 2 H 2 R Turner 1 IP 2 H 1 R 3 K
  • Los Angeles learned they will have to get by for the rest of the 2009 season without starting CF Tim Taylor who suffered a torn calf muscle.
