A team that's never won, against a team that won the first two world series and hasn't won since. Tons of stories for this world series but before we can begin the biggest story may have already happened. NLCS MVP Kennan Blashill was diagnosed with a ruptured tendon in his left knee and will miss the world series for the Spartans. A key cog during the season (.306-21-75) Blashill helped propel the Spartans past the Missions hitting .600 with 2 HR and 7 RBI's.
Even considering the injury the key to this world series, from a Tarpon perspective, will be slowing down the white-hot Juan Saucedo who has 5 homers so far this post-season and keeping the top of their lineup from RBI opportunities. From Weisenborn to Reyna they are lethal.
The knuckleballer worries me (I keep going back to that draft and veteran readers may remember me debating on taking him early or not) but if Hayashi, Saldana, and Funicello can keep up their great postseasons and Cortezo can do
ANYTHING, we have a shot. I like any game that gets us into the 7th with the lead.
I'd love to see this have Galindo on the mound to get the final out. But I would
REALLY prefer it happens in 5-6 games tops. I don't like the unpredictability of a 7th game. I need Kody Pollock to be the guy if it comes down to that.
Here's a visual look at the two teams heading to the 2009 World Series from top to bottom.
