TARPONS MONTH
- Overall our offense is still leading the league in a bunch of categories but some folks have fallen way off their early pace. Just one player in any category and that's SB, but overall the team top to bottom is coming together.
- Check out the swing in the central with Ohio picking up 7 games in just the past 10 days. Barring extreme circumstances, the only race left in the AL appears to be the Wild Card.
- In the NL with the exception of the Jets and Panthers, it's all about the Wild Card as well.
- There's going to be a major shakeup in Frisco. They don't have a patient owner nor fan base and expectations are the same there as in LA and Detroit. Win it all, anything else is an epic failure.
ST LOUIS PUTS UP “YARD SALE” SIGN
The St Louis Surge have made it known that their ABA worst 23-59 record has put them in “Fire Sale” mode. Owner Luis Crespin has “demanded” a change and 'fix' by Surge GM Brett Creamer.
Sources around the league point to a decent pool of young talent that has been developing around their only true star in 3B Ben Chase. Chase has become the 'face of the franchise' for whatever that may be worth, while he is hitting a career-low .248 he still leads the ABA in home runs with 26. The Surge has also been hard hit by injuries. They rank dead last in runs scored, Avg, OBP, runs against and 13th in Starters ERA and defensive efficiency.
Most speculate the Surge will move any and every prospect they have for the right deal which is said to be "prospects and picks". They are apparently 'starting over' and looking to re-stock a system. Chase is one of the few names overheard to be 'untouchable' but some scouts have said Chase is the one player that could get them a return that would jump-start the rebuild stating "if they can be dead last WITH him what's the harm in being dead last without him, and a bunch of young talent coming back their way?".
It is also no secret that a few GM's around the ABA have coveted Chase since draft day and may actually be willing to part with the 'package' that could get it done.
