The main thread of this site was indeed to provide a facepack that would enhance the operation of the OOTP simulation games. However, such was its success that it became so much more than that. So influential was it that it became a home for many, like myself, who are not game players but who have a strong interest in the imagery of baseball. It was not by coincidence that this site became the reference point for SABR in respect for much of pioneering research work. Such work that is now magnificently on-goingly depicted by the contributions of Chickazoola.

The site was very fortunate to benefit from the contributions of highly knowledgeable, prominent researchers such as bmarlowe, TNFOTO, Cusick and Dto7. Krantzbucks spoke of those who influenced him. 2 people who played a similar role for me were Wrightwing and Matt Fulling. The former was a pioneer in the development of the facepack and it became the source for his conribututions to the images in use on 'Baseball Reference'. Perhaps that Amazonian site's only weakness is it's tardy approach to keeping the images updated. Matt Fulling's colorizations became the source for the images depicted on the 'Baseball Library' site, though he was never a contributor to this site. For those who are unaware of this previously influential site, it advertised itself as 'the home of baseball history'. Let's applaud the current efforts of cinemaoddyssey to re-emphasize the traditions of this site to seek out and research 'new' not previously shared images, and attract back those who cherish this approach for people to work together rather than have the site be swamped by quick fixes that just fulfil a personal need. I very much hope his efforts that incorporate within it a respect to balance all baseball eras will be supported.
