September 7th-September 14th

September 7th, 2026: I recalled RF Austin Hendrick from AAA. His teammate, 1B Ashton McGee was named Player of the Week, going 10-for-25 with 3 homers and 5 RBI's.

We reamin 3rd in the Power Rankings with our 81-58 record.

We opened the series in Atlanta with Luis Ardon (0-1, 1.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) facing Mack Anglin (4-4, 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP). We spread our runs out, and one the opener 5-4 to secure an over .500 record for another season.

Ardon allowed 4 runs in 4 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. We used almost the entire pen, 8 pitchers who pitched 5 innings with 1 hit, 4 walks, and 8 strikeout. Jorge Moya got the win, Hyo-jin Yaung and Alpha Quivers holds, and Ignacio Hinojos the save.

Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI's. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with two solo homers. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, and a run scored. Billy Williamson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch and run scored.

Padres starter Dallas Woolfolk tossed a 7-hit shutout in a 9-0 win over the Cardinals.

September 8th, 2026: Greensboro finished their season yestreday, so I could make a wave of callups. I recalled C Jake Taylor and pitchers Marc Bjork and Gunnar Hoglund. The active roster sits at 35 with a pair of players (Devon Peterson and Devonte Brown) on the DL and 3 open 40-man spots. One spot I think I'd save with Ben Popkin returning in 5 weeks so I don't have to DFA someone during the postseason. I think I'll use the open spots on CL Joe Kramer and 3B Dansby Swanson, but I'd most likely wait until the AAA playoffs are over.

Steve Paustian (9-96, 3.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) took the mound against Ty Madden (10-7, 3.41 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) in the second of four. Both pitchers have won against the opposing team this year. The bats ran wild, and we crushed them 12-3.

Paustian went 6 innings with 7 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts, although all the damage came in the 3rd. Josh Watson tossed 2 innings with a hit, walk, and 4 strikeouts.

Jarred Kelenic was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, 2 doubles, and an RBI. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, and 4 RBI's. Seth Beer was 2-for-5 with a walk, homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-3 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a double. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-for-5 with a double and run scored. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-6 with a run scored, double, and 2 RBI's.

Mets CF Adrian Hernandez was 5-for-5 in a 9-0 win over the Reds.

September 9th, 2026: Pirates CL Robby Steinmetz has bone chips in his elbow, and will be out for the year. He had 15 saves and a 3.07 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 44 innings. A former 19th round pick by the Tigers who was released after draft day, he's bounced around and finally stuck with the Pirates where he's really found his spot. He's a 5* closer, but can also start. He's very similar to Igancio Hinojos on my team.

We looked to keep winning with Jordan Montgomery (11-4, 2.89 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) facing his former Yankees teammate Mashiaro Tanaka (8-6, 4.01 ERA, 1.01 WHIP). It was an old fashioned pitchers duel, and despite trying to give it up in the 9th, we won 3-2.

Monty went 5 with 5 hits, a run, and 5 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos, Marc Bjork, Ernesto Estrella, Sanshiro Onuma, and Joseph Jarneski got holds before Alpha Quivers got the save. Quivers allowed a hit, run, walk, and he struck out 2.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of solo homers. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3 with a walk and double. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Roberto Pena was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

September 10th, 2026: We looked to finish the four game road sweep against a potential playoff team with Mike Soroka (5-9, 4.24 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) who just asked a broke team for a 10-year, $185 million extension, facing Clayton Nettleton (7-3, 3.05 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) who's pitching through a strained oblique. It didn't hinder him from pitching well, and the Braves salavged the finale with a 5-1 win.

Soroka allowed 6 hits and 4 runs in 5 innings with a walk and 4 strikeouts. Marc Bjork allowed a run in 1.1 innings with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a steal. Billy Williamson was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

We get tomorrow off before heading to Philadelphia for a three game set with the 2nd place Phillies.

September 11th, 2026: I activated Devon Peterson from the DL.

The New York Mets have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 58-85, they are 26 games behind us, and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2019. Man, it's realy nice to see the Mets eliminated!

The St. Louis Cardinals were also eliminated. They share the same record as the Mets, but are 25 games out of first. They haven't made the playoffs since 2016.

In Philly, we'll see Steve Fettig (15-6, 2.99 ERA), Josh Wolf (7-8, 4.27 ERA), and Josh Wekse (6-5, 3.46 ERA) as our road trip continues.

September 12th, 2026: We opened the series at Citizens Bank Park with a 4 game lead over the host Phillies. Jake Florence (6-7, 3.90 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) will take on Steve Fettig (15-6, 2.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) who I'm guessing my scout has been wrong on for years now... He pitched fine, and we were down 8-3 when the top of the 7th started. 6 runs later, we had a 9-8 lead once it was their turn to hit. He held the lead, and had a nice comeback to win the opener 9-8.

There was a bad part, however, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was injured in a collision on the base paths, and will head to the DL with a mild hamstring strain. It's not a big injury, but it'll hinder him for about 2 weeks and it's now worth risking a worse injury.

Florence allowed 6 runs and 6 hits with 6 walks in 4.1 innings with jsut 1 strikeouts. Roberto Pena, the infielder, got the win, 1.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and a walk. I don't know why Boone likes using him so much, but he's been acceptable. Onuma, Estrella, Danny Niewald, and Yaung got holds, while Alpha Quivers got the save. Yaung allowed 2 htis, but struck out the side in the 8th.

Former Philly Isaac Nunez was 4-for-5 with a grand slam, 2 runs scored, and a steal. Deshawn Hardamon was 3-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Seth Beer was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Vladdy was 1-for-3 with a walk and steal before leaving with his injury. Cole Roederer was 1-for-3 with a solo homer.

September 13th, 2026: We looked to take the series a day early with Devon Peterson (10-7, 4.21 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) returning from the DL against Josh Wolf (7-8, 4.27 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). Jordy Barley got the start at third, and I'd play him there until Junior returns from the DL. Despite being down 3-0 after the first, we never gave up, and ended up winning 10-3.

Peterson went 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Hinojos finished the 6th with a strikeout and got a hold. Brennan Malone tossed 2 innings, allowing a hit, and striking out 4 to lower his ERA to 3.66. Before he went on the DL, his ERA was over 7.00!

Austin Hendrick was 2-for-4 with a walk, 3 runs, 3 RBI's, and a home run. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a homer, walk, and 2 RBI's. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and sac-bunt. Billy Williamson was great off the bench, 2-for-2 with a double, homer, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, double, and walk. Devon Peterson was 1-for-1 with a double, sac-bunt, and run scored.

September 13th, 2026: Royals SP Axsel Jimenez is out for the year with shoulder inflammation. The 26-year-old Dominican was 10-5 with a 3.17 ERA.

Somehow, we're still ranked 3rd in the Power Rankings, and the Brewers, our next opponent, jumped over us.

The Boston Red Sox have been eliminated from the playoffs. At 58-86, they are 34 games out of first place. They haven't made the postseason since 2022.

We looked to finish the sweep with Steve Paustian (10-6, 3.94 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) facing Josh Weske (6-5, 3.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP). We couldn't finish off another series, and the Phillies took the finale 6-3.

Paustian went just 3 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Gunnar Hoglund made his seaosn debut, tossing 2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. Hyo-jin Yaung allowed 2 runs off 2 hits and a walk with 2 strikeouts.

Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a steal. Jhon Solarte was 2-for-4 wiht 2 runs scored and a double. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a two run double. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored. Billy Williamson was 1-for-3 with a walk.

We're off to Milwaukee to face the red hot Brewers as we conclude our long road trip. We'll face Alfredo Rivera (11-11, 3.54 ERA), Victor Mederos (9-9, 4.09 ERA), and Shane Baz (6-7, 4.70 ERA). We both have the same record, but the NL Central is beyond awful, so their magic number is just 1 compared to my 13...
