Free Agency Pt. 1
November 25th, 2026: Free agents file today, but I doubt I'll be able to sign a single one. Here's who OSA ranks as the top 10 in no perticular order:
LHP Madison Bumgarner
RHP Luis Severino
1B Cody Bellinger
RF Austin Hays
RHP Edwin Diaz
RHP Jandel Gustave
2B Brice Turang
LHP MacKenzie Gore
CF Jeison Rosario
C Francisco Mejia
It's a really good class...
I may or may not have to cut $50 million in salary. Yikes...
November 29th, 2026: Hall of Fame voting starts today, and here is my ballot:
3B Adrian Beltre
2B Robinson Cano
SP Zack Greinke
SP Felix Hernandez
LF Matt Holliday
RF Nick Markakis
C Joe Mauer
CL Joe Nathan
SP CC Sabathia
SP Justin Verlander
Mauer better get in this time...
December 3rd, 2026: The Tigers signed star C Francisco Mejia to a 5-year, $107,200,000 contract. The switch hitter was a career .301/.355/.479 hitter with 144 homers and 552 RBI's as an Indian.
December 4th, 2026: I made a "big" deal, acquiring 1B Sean Taylor, LF Juan Morales, RF Clint Springer, and LHP Jake Hughes from the Giants for LF Cole Roederer, RHP Josh Barrett, and 1B Ashton McGee.
Taylor, 23, is a bat first, first basemen with massive power and contact abilities. He's basically going to be Seth Beer in two years, but he has absolutely no defensive skills. He was the 37th Overall Pick in 2024 out of Valdosta State.
Morales, 22, is a speedy outfielder from the Dominican Republic. He's a great base stealer, plays top notch defense in left, and has a decent bat. He'll hit for a high average with 15 homers a year and he won't strike out too much either.
Springer, 21, is a extra base hit threat with plus-plus gap power ability and a 100 rated arm. He's not the best defender, but he's a fast switch hitter that will give you a good share of longballs. The former 5th Round Pick will strikeout a lot, but he's got upside in a big league outfield.
Hughes, 22, was selected in the 2nd Round this year out of Rutgers. He's got an elite curveball and a plus plus fastball that hits 94-96 easily. He's got great stuff, plus control, and decent movement, and can fill a big league bullpen very soon.
As interesting as these prospects were, sadly, it was just to free up 3 million in payroll. That's what I have to do...
December 5th, 2026: The Cubs traded RHP Tyago Vieira, RHP Luis Guerrero, and LHP Rodolfo Esquiling to the Reds for LF Taylor Trammell. I like this ideal for the Reds, but the Cubs needed to cut salary too.
December 10th, 2026: The Blue Jays signed LHP Madison Bumgarner to a 3-year, $57 million contract. A Giant his whole career, MadBum has been with them since 2009. In his storied career, he's 180-154 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 2,627 strikeouts in 2,919.2 innings.
December 12th, 2026: To kick off the Winter Meetings, I acquired SP Cho-yeong Hyoun and $6 million in cash for Jorge Moya (35% retained) and LF Ken Adeniran.
Hyoun, 23, filed from South Korea last offseason, and went 5-15 with a 4.62 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in 32 starts. The groundballer gave up a league leading 35 homers, however, but was a little overrmatched. Extremely talented, he's a 3/4* with three plus-plus pitches, including a change up with elite potential. He's got plus movement and control as well, and dials his fastball up in the high 90s.
That wasn't the only move of the day, the Orioles signed top International SP Sergio Garza to a 5-year, $87 million contract. The 26-year-old Cuban (who's part French) is a future superstar. An extreme groundballer, he's got elite stuff with three plus pitches, (except a 18/24 change up he migt want to give up), plus-plus movement, and plus control.
The Tigers aquired 3B Tyler McKenzie from the White Sox for RHP Jonathan Chott. It's an even swap.
Colorado sent former Marlin minor leaguer SS Logan Warmoth to the Reds with LHP Caleb Kerins for RHP Cristian Sanchez and CF Juan Alarcon. It's a pretty fair deal as well.
I added SP Leonel Olvera to the 40 to protect him from the Rule-5 draft.
December 13th, 2026: Boston signed top CF Jeison Rosario to a 7-year, $144 million contract. The former Padre is a career .284/.355/.441 hitter with 95 homers, 430 RBI's, and 115 stolen bases.
The Rangers signed RF Austin Hays to a 2-year, $22.5 million contract. The Oriole and Diamondback is a career .279/.321/.480 hitter with 218 homers and 680 RBI's.
The Cardinals made two trades, first acquiring RF Kyle Hess from the Reds for RHP Duari Moreta, RHP Ethan Wood, and cash considerations. I like this deal for the Reds. The Cards also sent C Victor Caratini and LHP Bobby Silvers to the Braves for RHP Dusty Powell. It's a pure salary dump, and a steal for Atlanta.
I made a blockbuster trade with the Cubs, sending 1B Seth Beer, CF Rodolfo Medrano, and RP Josh Watson their way for 3B Mac Horvath.
It really doesn't get much better then Horvath, an elite infielder with great speed, great contact, and an elite eye. He's a career .255/.353/.369 hitter with 27 homers, 154 RBI's, and 56 steals while being a great leader in the clubhouse. He's also making just $3,280,000 this year, and will currently slot at first base. Although the hot corner looks really nice for him...
December 14th, 2026: The Braves sent C Ricardo A. Rodriguez to the Mets for RHP Drew Smith and RHP Steve Hansen. An absolute steal for Atlanta...
Mega deal time: I sent 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (45% retained) and SP Josh Nix to the Royals for CF Sergio Serrano and 1B Chris DeVito.
It's sad to see Vladdy leave, but I needed to free up the salary. I then flipped DeVito to the Orioles for SS Nesty Cirese.
Starting with Serrano, a 19-year-old LF, he's rated a 4.5* potential with elite defensive skills, elite speed, elite gap power, and plus contact. He was selected 15th Overall in 2025, and "Turbo" looks like a future star.
Cirese, 24, is a 2.5/3.5 SS who can play a little bit of everything. He's super fast, a solid defender, and has a great eye, but he's not the best hitter ever. He's also fragile, but is controllable for a long time and is a decent trade piece of his own.
I'm almost free from my budget, and really all I need is a third basemen, although I can do a little shuffling to get one.
December 15th, 2026: The Winter Meetings ended quiet today, but I couldn't let that happen.
I made some noise, sending LF Billy Willamson and C Juan Romo to the Astros for LHP Luis Alcantra, 2B Chris Charvat, SS Luis Monreal, CF Juan Navarro, and 2B Jon Carpenter.
Alcantra, 25, is someone I've been looking at for a long time. He's rated a 3.5/4.5 as a RP and 2.5/3.5 as a SP. He reminds me a lot of Ignacio Hinojos and Brennan Malone. He's got two elite pitches and a plus-plus pitch, and can reach 100 with his fastball. He's got solid stamina, plus-plus control, and plus movement. The 6'6'' southpaw was a 3rd round pick back in 2020.
Charvat, 18, can play a little bit of everything, has elite speed, and plus-plus contact and eye. He will strike out a bit, and basically just hits the ball all around and through the infield. He was selected in the 19th round this year, but has grown a lot already.
Monreal, 19, is an elite defender at short with blinding speed and a knack for hitting extra base hits. The Dominican righty has decent pop for a teen, but needs to work on not striking out too much.
Navarro, 21, is an elite center fielder with elite speed and range. He'll steal a ton of bases, make decent contact with a decent eye, but he won't hit any homers. A 16th rounder in 2025, he's also developed well, and has a great mentatlity.
Carpenter, 19, is a switch hitting speedester who can play a decent middle infield. He's got plus-plus contact and a solid eye, but also won't hit many homers. He was selected in the 10th round last year.
All the prospects are at least a 2.5* potential.
I'm still in the red though...
I have no clue how I'm going to cut salary now too...
December 17th, 2026: The Mariners signed 2B Brice Turang to a 4-year, $20.6 million per year deal. The lefty spent his full career with Arizona until now, hitting .283/.373/.403 with 64 homers, 340 RBI's, and 111 steals.
December 23rd, 2026: Toronto signed LF Derek Fisher to a 4-year, $83.2 million contract. He rejoined the Jays, after spending three years with them. He's a career .274/.375/.494 hitter with 264 homers and 847 RBI's.
December 24th, 2026: Today is the Rule-5 Draft! I had to protect Jackson Miller who I almost would have lost. I lost three guys, Hunter Perdue, Chris Dito, and Scott Kingery before my pick happened.
I took 3B Eric Kisela, a 1.5/4 from the Angels. He's got elite gap power and an elite arm with plus contact, eye, and power. He's a former 2nd Rounder with great potential.
December 27th, 2026: The Dodgers signed SP Luis Severino to a 5-year, $85 million contract. A 5-time All Star with the Yankees, he was 119-105 with a 4.04 ERA and 1.19 WHIP, and has started 30 or more games every year since 2017 when he became a full time starter.
December 29th, 2026: The Yankees signed star Cuban pitcher Juan "Mr. Miami" Jacobo to a 4-year, $91.2 million contract. At 27 year old, he's a 4/4.5 with elite stuff to go with average movement and control. He throws high 90s with three elite pitchers and a decent forkball.
December 30th, 2026: I claimed 3B Josh Moore off waivers sform the Mets.
We'll pick this up next year!
