July 19th-July 25th

July 19th, 2027: We dropped to 5th in the Power Rankings, and will start the All-Star Break 57-37.

I made a big deal with the A's, acquiring star CL Chad Scoles (95% retained) for SP Marc Bjork and 1B Gregorio Briones.

Scoles, 30, is a 5* impending free agent who's spent his whole career with the A's since they selected him 9th overall. He has 216 career saves with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.040 WHIP to go with 674 strikeouts in 504.2 innings. He'd become the closer, with Quivers moving to setup. I sent an extension offer to him, one of the best closers in the game.

I optioned Jarred Taylor to AAA.

July 20th, 2027: The Red Sox CF Jeison Rosario will be out for the year with a torn labrum. He was hitting .275/.327/.421 with 9 homers and 41 RBI's in his first season with the Sox.

I placed Riley Ferrell on the DL, since he suffered a setback. He should be back in 8 days (retroactive to the 18th).

RF Jeremy Arocho is out for the year with a broken bone in his elbow. He was hitting .252 with a homer and 32 RBI's.

The Marienrs acquired 3B Freudis Nova from the Rays for 2B Andrew Vaughn. I like this deal for both teams.

The Cardinals acquired RF Micker Adolfo and RHP Jai Hutchesson from teh Cardinals for LF Tim Hannan and 1B Danny Canfield. I like this deal for both teams as well.

Today is also the All-Star Game! Tampa's Brendan McKay (5-4, 2.16 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) Took on Atlanta's Ken Harty (10-1, 2.05 ERA, 0.90 WHIP). Thomas Dillard will hit 7th and catch. The AL won 5-2, and my new closer Chad Scholes got the save while representing the A's.

Dillard was 0-for-2. Steve Paustian walked 3, allowed a hit, and struck out 1. Luis Alcantra tossed a perfect third. Alpha Quivers struck out the final two AL hitters.

July 21st, 2027: I recalled RF Chad Avant from AAA. He's had a rough season in AAA, but he's the only outfielder on the 40.

July 22nd, 2027: I made a small swap with the Red Sox, re-acquiring LF Cole Brannen for RF Chad Avant. I needed a nice backup outfielder, and I miss Brannen from his glory days. It's been rough for him, and after his 62 steal season in 2021, the most he got was last year with 38.

The second half starts tomorrow, and we'd be in Milwaukee. We'll see Victor Mederos (5-5, 4.40 ERA), Shane Baz (2-4, 4.46 ERA), and Charlie Neeper (2-4, 4.82 ERA).

July 23rd, 2027: Scholes will spend at least 2 more years in Miami, signing a 5-year deal with an opt-out after 2029. He will make $22 million the first two years, $24 million for 2030 and 2031, and then a 2032 option.

I also recalled Jarred Taylor from AAA to fill the empty spot on the roster.

Part two started with Jake Florence (8-7, 3.58 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) taking on Victor Mederos (5-5, 4.40 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). It was a great way to start games back up, and we got a nice easy 5-1 win.

Florence went 7 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 12 strikeouts. Scoles made his Marlins debut, striking out 2 in the 9th.

Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jhon Solarte was 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored, and hit by pitch. Thomas Dillard was 1-for-3 with a RBI, steal, and walk. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

July 24th, 2027: We looked to take the second game of the series with Devon Peterson (9-4, 4.93 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) taking on Alfredo Rivera (7-4, 4.73 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). Another beautiful pitching performance, and we won 6-1.

Peterson almost went the distance, 8.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, walk, and 7 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoun only needed four pitches to get the final two outs.

Palban gamboa was 3-for-3 with 2 runs, an RBI, a double, and walk. Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with a RBI and steal. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a walk and RBI. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Cole Brannen was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and steal in his 2027 Marlins debut.

July 25th, 2027: The Indians sent RHP Aaron Slegers and SS Davon Brundridge to the Cardinals for 1B Miguel Sano. I like this deal for the Cardinals.

We looked to sweep the Crew with Ignacio Hinojos (4-3, 3.93 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Shane Baz (2-4, 4.46 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). We couldn't finish it, and they topped us 7-5 to salvage the finale at home.

Hinojos had a rough outing, 2.2 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Tylor Megill tossed 2.1 innings with a hit, run, and 5 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor allowed 2 runs and 3 hits with 2 strikeouts in an inning.

Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Matt Hogan was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, an RBI, hit by pitch, and steal. Thomas Dillard was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly and 2 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI's.

Rays RF Tim Green extended his hit streak to 20 games.

Angels LF Pete Crow-Armstrong went 5-for-5 in an 8-5 win over the Athletics.

We're off to Colorado for four, where we'll see Eric Warren (3-5, 5.92 ERA), A.J. Puk (7-4, 3.74 ERA), Forrest Whitley (5-5, 3.41 ERA), and Juan Coira (10-5, 4.22 ERA).
