August 9th-August 15th

Sidenote: I'm going to be on vacation from today until Monday, so I might not have too many posts until then

August 9th, 2027: We bounced up to 4th in the Power Rankings. At 66-45, we're 4 games out of first.

We got today off and will head to Pittsburgh. We'll see Ken Haugen (5-7, 3.55 ERA), Mike West (7-7, 4.47 ERA), and Eric Crawford (3-2, 3.72 ERA).

August 10th, 2027: White Sox righty Mike Vasil is out for the year with radial nerve compression. He finished the year 0-2 with 6 saves and a 4.50 ERA.

We opened the series at PNC Park with Ignacio Hinojos (5-4, 4.18 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on Ken Haugen (5-7, 3.55 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). Hinojos has struggled of late, and I wasn't able to acquire a starter to replace him, but today was a solid outing, and we took the opener 4-2.

Hinojos went 6.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers got the hold before Chad Scoles got the save.

Palban Gamboa was 2-for-4 with a walk. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a triple, run scored, walk, and RBI. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and steal. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

August 11th, 2027: We looked to take the series a game early with the red hot Steve Paustian (8-6, 3.07 ERA, 1.21 WHIP) taking on Mike West (7-7, 4.47 ERA, 1.38 WHIP). Both guys have pitched against the opposing team, with West tossing a gem and Paustian struggling. We kept rolling with a 4-2 victory, despite Paustian's rocky start.

He went 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), 6 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Alpha Quivers got a hold and Chad Scoles the save.

Deshawn Hardamon was 2-for-4 with homer and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a double, triple, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a run scored, 2 walks, a steal, and a hit by pitch. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Jhon Solarte was 1-for-2 with a walk and sacrafice fly.

August 12th, 2027: We looked to finish the sweep with Luis Ardon (8-7, 3.12 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Eric Crawford (3-2, 3.72 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) in the finale. We had a pair of three run innings, and finished the series with a nice 8-2 win.

Ardon tossed 5 innings with 5 hits, a run, and a walk. Riley Ferrell got a hold, 2 innings with a walk and 2 strikeouts. Cho-yeong Hyoun tossed 2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, a homer, and 4 RBI's. Eric Kisela was 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Jhon Solarte was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Ardon was 1-for-2 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Jon Reid replaced him in a double switch, and was 1-for-2 with a double and run scored. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a solo shot, the first homer and RBI of his career.

We're off to Atlanta for three with the Braves. We'll see Ty Madden (9-7, 3.03 ERA), Lucas Sims (7-6, 5.07 ERA), and Ian Beadell (7-9, 4.63 ERA).

August 13th, 2027: We opened the series in Atlanta with Jake Florence (10-9, 3.64 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) taking on Ty Madden (9-7, 3.03 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). Horvath does well against Madden, hitting .615 against the righty. We couldn't have started the series much better, and crushed them 11-0.

Florence went 7.2 innings with 4 hits, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. He was also 1-for-3 with an RBI double and sac-bunt.

Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 doubles, and a walk. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a double, and a sac-fly. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Deshawn Hardamon was 1-for-4 with a sac-fly, homer, and 4 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer as well as a walk, double, and 2 runs scored. Palban Gamboa was 2-for-5 with a run scored.

August 14th, 2027: Down in AAA, 2B Nesty Cierse partially tore his labrum and will miss the rest of the year. He's on the 40, so I'd likely move him to the 60-Day DL later in the season.

Baltimore will be without RHP David Paulino for the rest of the year with a partially torn labrum of his own. He was 0-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 34 relief appearences.

Now just 2 out of first, the red hot Devon Peterson (11-4, 4.07 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) took on Lucas Sims (7-6, 5.07 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We kept rolling and topped them 7-4.

Peterson didn't have the best start, 5 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Niewald got the win, 2 innings with a strikeout. Victor Arano got the hold and Chad Scholes the save.

Juan Ramirez, who's been on fire, was 4-for-5 and a triple away from the cycle. He scored and drove in 3 runs. Palban Gamboa was 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and 3 runs scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-2 with a three run homer and 2 walks. Jake Taylor was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Down in AAA, 2B Devonte Brown extended his hit streak to 20 games.

August 15th, 2027: We looked to finish the sweep with Ignacio Hinojos (6-4, 4.07 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Ian Bedell (7-9, 4.63 ERA, 1.52 WHIP). Tied at 3 after 9, Palban Gamboa hit a grand slam in the 11th. We eventually won 7-4 to finish another sweep.

Hinojos tossed 5.2 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Ferrell and Arano got holds before Quivers blew it. He tossed 0.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles got the win, tossing a perfect 10th. Hyoun allowed a run and hit before finishing the 11th.

Gamboa was 3-for-5 with a walk, the grand slam, and 6 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 wiht a double and 3 runs scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a run scored, walk, sac-bunt, and 2 steals. Jackson Miller was 2-for-5. Jon Reid came off the bench and went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Brown's hit streak was ended at 20.

We finish our road trip with three in Kansas City before an off day. We'll see Christopher A. Reynolds (5-9, 4.63 ERA), Axsel Jimenez (3-3, 4.59 ERA), and Chris Helmick (8-5, 5.03 ERA).
