Off-Season Report
Transactions:
12/5: Sign Clayton Kershaw to a 7 year deal worth $154 million. We were able to sign arguably the best pitcher in the game to a fairly team-friendly deal. Kershaw expressed a great desire to come pitch in Atlanta to help a young team develop into something special. He is coming off a season in which he won his 4th Cy Young award in which he posted a whopping 9.5 WAR. This acquisition will undoubtedly boost our team and our attendance figures. Kershaw will be the best pitcher the city of Atlanta has seen since Greg Maddux.
12/11: Ozzie Albies is awarded the NL Gold Glove for 2nd Base!
12/18: OF Billy McKinney is selected in the Rule 5 Draft. McKinney is a toolsy 24-year old that will see time at all 3 outfield positions.
12/21: C Tim Federowicz and RHP Ricardo Sanchez are selected off waivers
12/22: We send RHP Dylan Bice and RHP Ian Prospect (#83 prospect in baseball) to the White Sox for OF Adam Eaton. Eaton is coming off of a solid 2.6 WAR season and will be a major upgrade to our outfield. He is owed $25 million over the next 3 years.
1/29: Sign C Jonathan Lucroy to a 2 year deal worth $12.2 million. Lucroy is a solid leader coming off of a 1.5 WAR season with Oakland and Boston. He will be a solid addition to the lineup and the pitching staff.
