January 2nd, 2028: The Cubs signed SP German Marquez to a 5-year, $111,400,000 contract. He was as Cub for part of 2025 and all of 2026 before heading to the Blue Jays for a season. He's a career 93-93 pitcher with a 4.53 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 1,393 strikeouts in 1,517 innings.

January 3rd, 2028: The Indians claimed Jimmy Chapman off waivers.

January 7th, 2028: I needed to add a lefty to the pen, so I sent RHP Mason Barnett to the Orioles for former Marlin LHP Sanshiro Onuma (75% retained). Onuma is a 3* reliever and team captain. His stuff is elite, the ball never leaves the ground, and leftys can't hit his slider.

Jaunary 8th, 2028: The Red Sox made a big splash, signing Brady Singer to a 5-year, $114,600,000 contract. It's a big deal for a pitcher with injury problems. The long time Met is 56-53 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and he's struck out 824 in 901.2 innings.

January 9th, 2028: I claimed SS Rodolfo Navarro off waivers from the Reds. He's an elite defender, but doesn't have any speed. He does run the bases well, and will contribute a bit on with the bat. He was sent to AA Jacksonville.

The Cubs signed SP Mitchell White to a 5-year, $30 million per year contract, with the final a 180 innings pitched vesting option. In 237 career starts, mostly with the Mariners, he's 74-78 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and he's struck out 1,142 in 1,227 innings.

January 10th, 2028: The Mariners signed LF Kris Bryant to a 3-year, $47,100,000 contract, with the last season a 550 plate appearence option. The long time Cubs has a career .269/.369/.511 hitter with 427 homers and 1,183 RBI's.

The Brewers acquired RHP Lucas Sims from the Braves for RF Monte Harrison and CF Steve Clarke. I like this deal for the Braves...

January 12th, 2028: Joe Mauer (78%) was inducted to the Hall of Fame on his 4th attempt. Zack Greinke (73.6%), Robinson Cano (73%), and Justin Verlander (69.3%) just missed it. Other close guys were Mat Holiday (63.5%), Buster Posey (51.4%), and Yadir Molina (44.3%).

The Rangers signed RHP Chris Rodriguez to a 3-year, $21.2 million contract. He's a career 73-70 pitcher with a 4.27 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and he's struck out 993 in 1,251 innings.

January 13th, 2028: The Dodgers signed RHP Forrest Whitley to a 2-year, $32.4 million contract. The Astro and Rockie has a career 71-78 record with a 4.32 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. He's struck out 1,264 hitters in just 1,253 innings.

January 15th, 2028: I claimed C Pat Hughes off waivers from the Rangers and sent him to A+ Jupiter. He's an interesting prospect, a 3* spec with a decent glove. He's got elite gap power and plus eye, and can devleop into a solid hitter.

The Yankees signed Kyle Molnar to a 3-year, $6.9 million per year deal. He owns a 4.36 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 182 games (119 starts). He's 41-45 with 466 strikeouts.

January 23rd, 2028: After a little bit of nothing, the Astros made the news by signing RF Juan Soto to a 4-year, $45.1 million contract. He's got a career .296/.354/.491 line with 132 homers and 490 RBI's and has been selected to 3 All-Star games.
