April 24th-April 30th

April 30th, 2028: I outrighted 2B Deshawn Hardamon to AAA.

Astro starter Brennan Malone will miss the rest of the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. THe former Marlin was 1-0 with a 4.86 REA.

At 15-4, we remain 1st in the Power Rankings, and hav ea 4 game lead on our next opponent, the Mets, and our last opponent, the Nationals.

We opened the Mets series with Devon Peterson (3-0, 1.98 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Noah Syndergaard (0-0, 3.86 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). They faced off earlier in the season, and Peterson had his only bad start of the year. Gregorio Alvarenga really hits Peterson well, 7-for-20 in his career, and he woudl lead the game off. The Mets got 4 in the 3rd, and took the opener 5-4.

Peterson went 5.2 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Mike Siani, my new OF, tossed 1.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. He also had an RBI double in his only at bat.

Daylen Lile was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Noah Smit was 1-for-2 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and an RBI triple. Peterson was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.

April 25th, 2028: We looked to even the series back up, and shake out of this small rut, with Steve Paustian (2-0, 2.05 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) taking on Livio Montella (2-1, 2.10 ERA, 0.70 WHIP). There was a ton of scoring, and the Mets had a 10-5 lead heading in to the bottom of the 8th after an Andrain Hernandez grand slam of Jarred Kelenic... We battled back for 3 in the 8th, and Noah Smith hit a 2-run single off Jamie Callahan to tie the game in the 9th and force extras. With the bases loaded in the 10th, Jackson Miller hit a walk-off grand slam off Cal Coughlin, and we won a crazy one 14-10.

Chris Reid left with a bruised shin, but he'll be day-to-day for about 4 days after getting hit by a pitch.

Paustian went 4 innings with 7 htis, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Trevor Gott blew the save, 1.1 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, and a strikeout. Kelenic didn't get an out, allowing 3 hits and 4 runs. Chad Scoles got the win, tossing a perfect 10th with a strike out.

Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, and a homer. Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with 3 runs, a walk, an RBI, and a double. Daylen Lile was 3-for-6 with 2 runs scored and a double. Reid was 2-for-4 with a two run homer and the hi tby pitch. Miller actually came off the bench, 1-for-1 with a run scored (running for Reid who got hurt) and then another on the walk-ff grand slam. Nest Cirese came off the bench and was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

April 26th, 2028: Mariners 3B Freudis Nova is out for the year with a torn ACL. He was hitting .323/.348/.585 with 2 homers and 16 RBI's.

We looked to take the finale with Jake Florence (0-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) taking on Chandler Ferguson, who's making his first start of the season. It was a close one, and we edged them out 5-4 to take the finale.

Florence went 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jarred Taylor got the win, 2 innings with 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got a save, an inning with 2 strikeouts.

Yesterday's hero Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with 2 walks, a steal, run scored, and RBI. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and run scored. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly.

Tomorrow is an off day before the Phillies come to town for three!

Arpil 27th, 2028: The Phillies make their way to Miami, where we'll see Steve Fettig (0-3, 10.47 WHIP), Jim Gilbert (0-1, 4.55 ERA), and Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 2.70 ERA).

April 28th, 2028: We opened up the Phillies with Ignacio Hinojos (1-0, 1.58 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) taking on the struggling Steve Fettig (0-3, 10.47 ERA, 1.71 WHIP) who we demolished in his first start against us. Chris Reid is 6-for-16 against him with three longballs. Only Horvath and Hinojos in the lineup haven't hit a homer off him. We got 4 in the first, and took the oepner 9-3.

Hinojos went 6 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell tossed 2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout. Blayne Enlow tossed an inning with a strikeout.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored, steal, and 2 RBI's. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly, three run homer, and hit by pitch. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with a solo homer, steal, and 2 runs scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chris Reid and Jackson Miller were both 1-for-4 with a run scored.

April 29th, 2028: Jordan Montgomery was ready to come back from the DL, so I optioend Jarred Taylor back to AAA. Montgomery will pitch out of the pen, as we hope to both limit injuries and maxamize effectiveness. He's pitched in 264 games in his MLB career, all coming from the rotation.

There were a pair of season ending injuries. The Reds lost RHP Ernesto Abilez for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. Rays CF Travis Swaggerty ruptured his medial collateral ligament.

We looked to take the middle game as well with Devon Peterson (3-1, 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) taking on Jim Gilbert (0-1, 4.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP). Peterson beat the Phils earlier in the year, while Gilbert loss to us. The same happened today, and we beat them 6-1.

Isaac Nunez left with an injury from running the bases...

Peterson was great, 8 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery tossed the 9th, needing just 6 pitched for a 1-2-3 inning. Each batter got out on a 1-0 count.

Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 4 RBI's, and a homer. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and RBI. Nunez was 1-for-3 with a double and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with a steal and run scored.

April 30th, 2028: The Pirates will be without CL Robby Steinmetz for the year with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. The former 19th Rounder has blossomed into a great closer, and he had 8 saves and a 1.42 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 12.2 innigns.

We looked to finish the sweep with Luis Ardon (1-0, 1.17 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on Dursan Erbakan (2-1, 2.70 ERA, 0.90 WHIP). Ardon beat the Phillies when he came out of the pen for the injured Montgomery. Today was a much, much different game...

The Phillies took a quick 3-0 lead, but we tied it in the 4th with a base clearing double from Jackson Miller. We then added a run in the 5th and 6th to take a 5-3 lead. In the 8th, Xavier Carter tied the game up with a two run homer. Neither team scored in the 9th, so we went to extras. Form the 10th-16th, the pitching was near-perfect, as neither team scored. Then in the 17th, in Jordan Montgomery's 4th inning, Zaire Denton hit a two run homer to give the Phillies a 7-5 lead. Then, starter Steve Paustian came in to get the last two outs. In the bottom half, Jarred Kelenic hit a two-run homer off former Marlin Reynaldo Lopez to tie the game up. Paustian had to keep pitching, and brought it to the 19th. The Phillies ran out of pitchers, and sent Tyler Callihan to the mound. He did get 2 outs, but allowed a hit and walked 5, so we walked off winners 8-7 of a crazy, crazy game...

Wow...

Ardon tossed 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and he struck out just 1. Trevor Gott struck out 1, allowed a hit, and run. Danny Niewald allowed a homer to the only batter he faced. Luis Alcantra, Chad Scoles, Riley Ferrell, and Blayne Enlow combined for 6 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Jordan Montgomery tossed 3.1 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Paustian got the win, 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts. He was planned to start tomorrow, but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. It was his first big league relief appearence.

Paustian actually walked it off, and was 1-for-2 with an RBI single to end the game. What a fitting way to end the game, a pitcher gets a single off a hitter to end the game.

Noah Smith was 4-for-8 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Mac Horvath was 2-for-5 with 3 runs and 4 walks. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-8 with a steal, walk, and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-7 with the two run homer, a double, and 2 walks. Jackson Miller was 1-for-7 with 2 walks and a base clearing double.

Well, that was crazy! I'm eventually going to have to find a way to get a starter in for Paustian, but I'll leve that to later.

Now it's off to Washington for three with the Nationals! We'll see Clint Hinshaw (2-3, 2.90 ERA), Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.77 ERA), and Cole Ragans (1-1, 6.75 ERA).

A few interesting stats for April: obviously, 20-5 is insanely impressive, but it's crazy that we had a 3 game losing streak. So that means we won the 11 straight, but then later lossed 4 of 5 before our current 5 game winning streak. All our losses except 1, a 5-3 loss to the Nationals, have been 1 run losses. We're still 7-4 in 1 run games. We're 5-0 against left starters, 12-3 at home, and 8-2 on the road. Our Pythagorean is 19-6, so we aren't super lucky based off our run scoring and allowing. We're also top 6 in every stat except pitching walks, where we are 14th in the league.
