May 1st-May 7th

Mat 1st, 2028: Good news to start the month: Isaac Nunez just has a hyperextended knee, and I'll give him the next two days off to recover.

Devon Peterson was named Pitcher of the Month for April. He was 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA and he struck out 29 in 41 innings.

At 20-5, we still remain #1 in the Power Rankings. It'd be great to stay there all season!

We'd start May at Nationals Park with Jake Florence (0-0, 3.29 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) taking on Clint Hinshaw (2-3, 2.90 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). We couldn't score, and were shutout 5-0. Hinshaw went the distance, allowing just 4 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts against the team that origionally drafted him, but he declined to sign with...

Florence went 5.1 innings with 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts. The pen tossed 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and a strikeout.

We had just 4 hits, and Florence had half of them. He was 2-fr-2 with a double. Noah Smith and Jon Reid were both 1-for-3.

A's 2B Nick Dunn was 5-for-5 in a 6-3 loss to the Twins.

May 2nd, 2028: I needed someone to start today, so teompararily DFA'd Luis Ardon to add Leonel Olvera to the active roster to start today. He made his Major League debut against Steve Vincent (1-1, 3.77 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). Nunez is actually healthy today, so I let him start at short, especially considering Jon Reid got sick. The Nats got 4 in the 8th, and won 6-3. I miss April...

Olvera pitched well, 6.2 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 6 strikeouts. Mike Siani allowed 3 hits and 4 runs in the 8th with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Nunez was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a walk, and a two run homer in the 9th. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored.

Olvera headed back to AAA, and Ardon was re-activated.

May 3rd, 2028: We looked to avoid the sweep with Ignacio Hinojos (2-0, 2.25 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) taking on Cole Ragans (1-1, 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). In 43 at bats, Isaac Nunez is hitting .349 with 2 homers off the Nats' lefty. The offense was excellent, and we topped the Nationals 10-2 to salvage the finale.

Danny Niewald left with back stiffness, and will head to the DL for 2 weeks.

Hinojos went just 4.1 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed 3 hits and a run in an inning, while also recording a strikeout. Niewald struck out both batters he faced in the 9th before the back stiffness kicked in.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with a steal, double, run scored, walk, and 2 RBI's. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-5 with a double, solo homer, and 2 runs scored. Jackson Miller was 3-for-4 with a walk and 3 RBI's. Isaac Nunez was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Chris Reid was 1-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer.

We're off to San Francisco for four with the first place Giants. We'll see Josh Canseco (1-2, 5.16 ERA), Joe Brausen (2-0, 2.97 ERA), Dan Poinsette (2-1, 2.78 ERA), and Wes Hicks (0-2, 3.91 ERA).

May 4th, 2028: I recalled Joseph Jarneski from AAA to replace Niewald.

We opened the series in San Francisco with the reigning NL Pitcher of the Month Devon Peterson (4-1, 2.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Josh Canseco (1-2, 5.16 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). The game was tied at 1 after 9, so we had to play extras. In the 13th, Jarred Kelenic hit a solo homer off Stiward Aquino to take a 2-1 lead. Sadly, Sanshiro Onuma allowed 2 in the bottom half, and they took the opener 3-2.

Peterson pitched 5 innings with 4 hits, a run, 5 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Onuma got the loss, 1.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and a strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 2-for-5 with a walk and run scored. Kelenic was 1-for-4 with 2 walks and the solo homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-6 with an RBI double. Grant Koch was 1-for-3 with a double. Daylen Lile was 1-for-4 with 2 walks.

May 5th, 2028: Orioles righty and former Marlin Nick Rumbelow is out for the year with a torn flexor tendon. The 36-year-old had a 3.12 ERA in 8.2 innings with 10 strikeouts and just 1 walk.

We looked to even the series with former Giant Steve Paustian (3-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Joe Brausen (2-0, 2.97 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). It was another 1 run game, but we came up on top this time, edging the hosts 5-4.

Paustian went 5.2 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Joseph Jarneski, Jordan Montgomery, and Riley Ferrell got holds before Chad Scoles got the save. Scoles allowed a hit, run, and walk in the 9th with 2 punch outs.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-5 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Paustian was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's and a sac-bunt. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-4 with a double, walk, and RBI. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk, double, and run scored. Chris Reid was 1-for-3 with a RBI and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk.

36th Round: CF Danny Squires (0.5/0.5)
38th Round: 2B Luis Robles (0.5/0.5)

At least a decent amount of these guys should get re-drafted this year!

We looked to take the series lead with Luis Ardon (1-0, 2.63 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) taking on Dan Poinsette (2-1, 2.78 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). So we won 9-1, which doesn't sound too weird, until you find out that it was a 10 inning game. We scored 8 runs in the 10th...

Ardon was brilliant, 6.1 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Jarred Kelenic, Trevor Gott, and Jordan Montgomery got holds. Chad Scoles did too, although he allowed a run and walk with a strikeout to tie up the game. Luis Alcantra got the win, allowing a hit, walk, and strikeout in 0.2 innings.

Daylen Lile was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, an RBI, a walk, hut by pitch, steal, and a double. Chris Reid was 2-for-4 with 2 walks, a double, and run scored. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI's to go with a steal. Noah Smith was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Ian Happ was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 walks, and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Orioles RF Benni Vogl hit his 300th career homer today. The 27-year-old has a career .284/.366/.585 triple slash with 300 homers and 757 RBI's since debuting in 2021.

Tampa will be without Jarod Bayless (not the basketball player) for the rest of the season with a torn labrum. He was 0-2 with 12 strikeouts in 11 innings despite a 11.45 ERA.

We looked to finish the sereies on a high note with Jake Florence (0-1, 4.13 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) taking on Wes Hicks (0-2, 3.91 ERA, 1.34 WHIP). We won 9-1 again, but this time in 9 innings.

Florence was great, 7.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Mike Siani tossed 1.2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a walk, steal, and grand slam. Isaac Nunez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and two run homer. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a wlak and 2 runs scored. Juan ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run scored and base clearing triple. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-5 with a double.

A day fter Vogl's historical homer, Blue Jays LF Derek Fisher hit his 300th. The 34-year-old has a career .276/.375/.499 slash in 1,559 games with 301 homers (he hit two in the game) and 951 RBI's with Houston and Toronto.

We don't have too far to travel, as we're off to LA to finish a long stretch of games with three against the Dodgers. We'll see Kevin Jalbert (3-0, 3.86 ERA), Robinson Ortiz (1-3, 6.84 ERA), and Nate Ransom (3-1, 3.70 ERA).
