Phillies Wall Of Fame candidates continued.
Danny Ozark took over a last-place team in 1973 that had finished with a .378 winning percentage the year before. By 1975 the Phillies were a contender and the following year (1976) Ozark managed the Phillies to their first first-place finish since 1950. Two record setting years would follow as Ozark-managed teams would set the franchise record for Wins and winning percentage. The Phillies finished with scintillating 101-61 records in both 1977 and 1978. (since then, Topped once by the Charlie Manuel-managed 2011 team at 102-60.) Ozark's overall 594-510 record with a .538 winning percentage over seven seasons (1973-1979), is one of the finest career managerial records in Phillies franchise history. Ozark passed away in 2009 at age 85.
